If you did not catch the preliminary fights, they were shown live on Facebook. There were some great fights not on the Spike TV broadcast like American Top Team's Ken Stone putting Donny Walker to sleep with a rear naked choke in the first round and TJ Waldburger's triangle choke over Mike Stumpf.
Mike Riddle and Lance Benoist fought a bloody fight as Riddle destroyed Lance Benoist's nose but despite a broken nose he won a hard fought fight.
Evan Dunham who was one of the most promising fighters in the UFC was relegated to the preliminary card faced off against Shamar Bailey. Like the last fight Dunham busted up Bailey and beat him badly to win a 3 round unanimous decision.
Choke expert Cody McKenzie faced off with BJJ specialist Vagner Rocha in the last Facebook prelim fight of the night. Vagner Rocha showed his dominate grappling skills as opposed to McKenzie’s one submission as he was able to tap out McKenzie with a rear naked choke in the second round.
Out 16 month Alan Belcher returned to the UFC after eye surgery to face Jason MacDonald. He did not show any rust as he was able to ground and pound MacDonald until the ref stopped the fight in the first round.
TUF winner Jonathan Brookins looked real bad in his fight with Erik Koch as Brookins striking looked very awkward and he lost a lopsided 3 round decision.
The main event had hard hitting Jake Ellenberger fighting Jake Shields. Shields who has never had the best striking look horrible in the stand up was caught with a knee to the face that sent the Gracie fighter down and from there Ellenberger rained down punched until the ref stopped the fight at :53 seconds of the first round.
