UFC Fight Night Fight 16 Results and Recap
UFC Fight Night 16 - UFC Fight For the TroopsUFC Fight Night 16 Results and Recap Last night was a great night for the UFC. The fight card was subpar and the fights themselves were nothing to write home about. The UFC put on a free live show on Spike TV to help raise money for soldiers of the Iraq war and war on terror in Afghanistan. We also got to see the UFC president Dana White as a caring person who genuinely wants to help the troops. Yes he is a scrooge when it comes to his business but he sure did something real special last night. As for the fights, it was pretty lack luster as Josh Koscheck knocked out Yoshiyuki Yoshida in the first round and Mike Swick put a vicious beat down on Jonathan Goulet. One thing was for sure is that grappling is the best form of fighting for mixed martial arts as BJJ black belt Tim Credeur made Nate Loughran look bad and BJJ brown belt Jim Miller used his superior grappling to beat a game Matt Wiman. The fights took place at Fort Bragg for the televised charity Ultimate Fighting event to help raise money for a planned $70 million research center for traumatic brain injuries, one of the most common combat injuries suffered by troops in Iraq. The money raised from Wednesday's fights will go to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund and the Fisher House, a national network of homes at military and veterans hospitals where family members can stay free. The Fund is designing and building the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, an advanced facility dedicated to research, diagnosis and treatment of military personnel and veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury (TBI) The event has a number of stars pitching for donations like Rob Lowe, Charlie Sheen, and Jack Black al trying to raise money for the troops to help build and complete the center for traumatic brain injuries. If you would like to donate got to https://www.fightforthetroops.com/donate.asp tThe next UFC event will take place on December 13, 2008 which will be the Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale. The Ultimate Finale will take place on December 13, 2008 at The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada. Main Card Lightweight Final: Phillipe Nover vs. Efrain Escudero Preliminary Card Light Heavyweight bout: Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Shane Primm
