Houston Alexander fought in his home town of Nebraska at UFC Fight Night 15 and he proved once again that to become a UFC fighter you need to have skill, not just punching power. Alexander does not belong in the UFC and his lack of skill really shows when he fought Eric Schafer, who is a true mixed martial arts fighter. Schafer proved that skill will overpower someone that is basically a bar brawler. He took out the home town hero with a first round arm-triangle choke proveing to many that Alexander is a one fight wonder. Skill was the theme in this UFC Fight Night as Mike Massenzio beat Drew McFedries with an arm bar and BJJ black belt Wilson Gouveia beat Ryan Jensen with an armbar as well proving that skill beats out power.

The usual Wildman Clay Guida changed his fight tactics as he was very patient and was no where near the wild fighter he normally is. He switched up his game and tempo of the fight perfectly as he shot in when he needed to and held back when he needed to stiffle Mac Danzig. Guida used his dominate wrestling skills to dominate a unanimous decision over the TUF winner.

The main event had TUF reality show winner Nate Diaz fighting hard hitting Josh Neer. Neer comes out for the takedown and almost gets a darce choke Diaz started to take over the fight and was landing his shots and going for more submission attempts by the end of the round. The second round was very close and Neer might have pulled it off due to takedowns as all 3 judges scored it for 10-9 for Neer. The third round was control by Diaz with more takedown points and fighting more aggressively from the top.

The next UFC event will take place on October 18, 2008 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England. UFC 89 Bisping vs. Leben will headline the home town Brit Michael Bisping versus hard hitting Chris Leben.
