Highly touted Jorge Santiago returned to the UFC. Since leaving the UFC he has gone 12 and 1 and became a champion in Japan and makes his highly anticipated return to the UFC to face Brian Stann in his debut.

It was a rough ride as Stann’s left from puts Santiago on his rear and then drops elbows in Santiago’s guard. It was a rough ride as Stann used his power to batter Santiago. Finally a over hand right lands that sends Santiago to the ground and Herb Dean sees Santiago go out and stops the fight at  4:29 of the second round.

In the second fight of the night Rick Story battered Thiago Alves in the first round with knees. The same dominance was showed in the second and Alves started to turn it up in the third round but it was too late as Story used his speed to out point Alves for a 29-28 unanimous decision victory by Rick Story.

Frank Mir used his height and reach advantage over Roy Nelson and connected with two or three hard, high knees to win the first round. In the second round Mir used his much advanced boxing which led to more knees and take downs for a 10 – 9 round going to Mir. In the third round, Nelson is dead tired but still fighting buy Mir’s size and striking reach are too much for Nelson as the judge’s scorecards of 30-26 and 30-27 (twice) gave Mir the victory.

The main event had Quinton Rampage Jackson fighting Matt Hamill. The striking skill differential was apparent as Jackson proved why he is an upper echelon fighter and why Hamill still has a lot of work to do.

Jackson won a unanimous decision but giving Hamill a lesson in striking.

Fighters were awarded $70,000 bonuses.
