BJ Penn is Back and Rampage Wins Contraversial Decision

If there is one thing is MMA and fighting in general is that you have to finish fights. If you leave it to the judges you might get burned. Case in point at UFC 123 the heavily favored Tyson Griffin fought this year’s TUF contestant Nik Lentz who is a smoker by the way. In my opinion Griffin dominated Lentz all three rounds. At the end of the second round Griffin stands and slams Lentz to the floor. Griffin beat him with strikes, quickness takedowns throughout the fight but in the end the judges saw it 29-28 Lentz (Sal D'Amato), 30-27 Griffin (Nelson Hamilton) and 29-28 (Jeff Blatnick) for the winner Nik Lentz. The crowd is shocked by Lentz's split-decision win and is one of the worst d3ecision I have ever seen.

In what will be Karo Parisyan’s last fight in the UFC he came in to fight journey man Dennis Hallman and Hallman landed a left jab and a right hand that drops Parisyan. Hallman pounces and punches away for the stoppage at 1:27 of the opening period. In my opinion Parisyan was not prepare and looked like he did not train hard for the fight and looked over weight with muffin tops showing.

In the pay per view NCAA wrestler just dismantled Tim Boetsch who was slower and really has no real skills and looks like he will be cut from the UFC.


In the rubber match between Matt Hughes and BJ Penn, Penn went straight after Hughes with one two combos and he was able to KO Hughes who was seriously disappointed with tears in his eyes as he got KO’ed just 27 seconds in the first round.


In the main event it was a very uneventful fight as Machida was elusive in the first 2 rounds and took it to him in the third round. The first 2 round were very close but Rampage won them on being more aggressive. It was the right decision but rampage still needs to work on other things besides boxing. Even Rampage though he lost the fight.

The next UFC event will be the The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck Finale, is, that will be held on at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and is scheduled for December 4, 2010.
