UFC Betting Review:

Anderson SIlva Retains TitleThis was one of the best UFC events for some time. In the Charlie Brenneman fight versus Johny Hendricks, Brenneman proved he had heart as he was knocked down 3 times but kept getting up. The final knock down was enough for the ref to stop the fight.

Roy Nelson proved he was no joke as he gave Junior dos Santos all he could handle and the heavy hitting Brazilian could not put away the robust Nelson but won a decision and now moves next in line to fight for the UFC heavyweight championship.

Matt Hughes proved he can still fight as he out away his third straight Renzo Gracie fighter in a row. Hughes caught Almeida with a left hook that sent him to the ground. From there he tapped out the Brazilian JiuJitsu black belt with an anaconda choke beating him at his own game.

As we stated in our MMA preview for the Alves and Fitch fight this fight would go to a decision and that the UFC bettors should be on the UFC prop bet on Fitch to win the fight by decision. Alves continues to miss the weight in and has a lack of conditioning. This showed in his fight as Fitch uses his speed, wrestling ability and octagon smarts to outwit the stronger slower Alves.

Alves has missed 170 pounds in a number of fights and should not be able to fight in the division if he continues to miss weight.

In the main event Sonnen backed up his words by taking the fight to Anderson Silva. In the first round he rush the champ and gets the double leg takedown. Sonnen tees off on the champ from the top and moves from side control to guard in the first round. In the second round Sonnen once again get the takedown and in the end of the round Silva gives up his back and works well on the guard moves from submission transition to submission transition but is not able to land a sub. In the third round Sonnen once again gets the takedown and works most of the round in his guard.

"Chael had a hell of a fight tonight," Silva said afterward. "I knew that I was losing the first four rounds."

"It was a tough fight," Sonnen said afterward. "He's a tough guy. I came in second. What can I say? They gave me my chance and I came up short."

Finally in the forth round Silva is about to catch Sonnen who dominated most of the fight. Silva lands a left hand at the charging Sonnen and he pulls guard to avoid the Silva strikes. Silva lands an elbow that cuts Sonnen. BY the final round Sonnen’s eye is in bad shape. Sonnen gets top position but Silva land 3 hard punches in the guard and slaps on a triangle. From there he switches to armbar and Soonen taps at 3:10 if the fifth round. Silva showed his great grappling in this fight which is a contrast to Sonnen’s claims that Silva’s black belt is a joke.
