UFC Betting Review:

Shogun KOs MachidaSeven months later, the world’s top two light heavyweights will meet for a second time on Saturday in the UFC 113 “Machida vs. Shogun 2” main event at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Machida will again put his unbeaten mark on the line, along with his title, against Rua, the 2005 Pride Fighting Championships middleweight grand prix winner. But there was no controversy in this fight as Shogun should why he was once the most feared mixed martial arts fighter in the world.

Shogun was about to KO the once undefeated Machida with a brutal; first round KO that left the champion limp in the end of the fight.

If you read our MMA matchup report we stated that

Rua is the better striker. Not only is he more powerful, his strikes are quicker. Typically, Muay Thai generates the best strikers in Mixed Martial Arts as their advances are designed for quick aggressive outbursts. Less wind up motion is required than Tai Kwon Do or Karate yet Muay Thai generates more effective power. Rua is a Muay Thai fighter while Machida’s base is in Karate—unfortunately for Machida, this was instrumental in their first meeting and will be again in this match. Machida has received both praise and criticism for back-peddling during a fight and by taking a match on points. His style of striking is quite unique though not as powerful nor violent like that of Rua.

Thank god Kimo Slice will be out of the UFC soon. Kimbo showed he is nothing more than a side show circus freak. He is not in shape, has no skills and refuses to learn how to become a better MMA fighter. During his fight with Matt Mitrione a fatigued Kimbo clinches and Mitrione defends. Mitrrione gets space and absolutely brutalizes the left leg of Kimbo with an outside and inside low kick. Mitrione is finally pulled off at the 4:24 mark of round two, giving him TKO win and hopefully this sends Kimbo out of the UFC.

If you read out matchup report for this fight we stated

Ferguson has “chicken legs” and will be unable to check Mitrione’s advances—it is highly likely Duke Roufus is teaching Mitrione to down opponents with the lower leg kick

In our last matchup for this fight we predicted that Koscheck would pick apart Paul “Semtex “Daley. He beat him so bad that Dana White kicked him out of the UFC.UFC President Dana White made it clear that the strike Paul Daley threw at Josh Koscheck long after the bell following their UFC 113 bout will cost Daley his UFC career.

“He’s done,” White said at the UFC 113 postfight news conference. “I don’t give a s--t if he’s the best 170-pounder in the world. He’ll never come back here again.”

Koscheck outwrestled Daley to win all three rounds of their welterweight title eliminator. The fight ended in Daley’s half guard. The horn sounded, and Koscheck stood and separated. Daley followed him and threw a left hook.

“It landed,” Koscheck said later. “It was probably his best punch of the fight.”.

Rua was awarded a $65,000 “Knockout of the Night” bonus after he knocked out Lyoto Machida to win the light heavyweight crown in the UFC 113 “Machida vs. Shogun 2” main event on Saturday at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Alan Belcher won the $65,000 bonus for “Submission of the Night” after he coaxed a tap out from former title challenger Patrick Cote 3:25 into the second round.

Jeremy Stephens and Sam Stout won the $65,000 bonuses for “Fight of the Night” in three-round exciting fight.
