UFC Betting Review:

In the biggest sports betting upset since Georges St Pierre lost to Matt Serra, Frankie Edgar defied all the sportsbooks and beat the top 5 pound for pound fighter BJ Penn. Edgar came into the fight as a +575 betting underdog.

We did predict and handicap that this fight would go into the late rounds and it would go to a decision but not in the favor of Edgar.


I do not know why Edgar won the fight. On my score cards Penn won 3 rounds to 2 and it was a shocker when the scores were announced.

Edgar’s eye was busted up and he looked to concede to Penn and looked shocked when the decision was announced. It should have not been a unanimous decision but Edgar did take down Penn twice, the first time Penn had been taken down in six years at lightweight. Edgar won all five rounds on one scorecard and four rounds on another.

Renzo’s debut to the UFC was uneventful as he lost by KO to Matt Hughes late in the third round. Hughes jabs and lands two right hands to the chin. Gracie falls and Dean steps in to save him at 4:40 of round three.

The next UFC event will be UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun 2: also referred to as UFC Fight Night 21 that will be held in on May 8, 2010 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. UFC 113 will feature the rematch between Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Rua for the Light Heavyweight Championship title.
