UFC Betting Review:
Lyoto Machida retains the UFC 105 Light Heavyweight title but many feel that he lost in most people's eyes. Rua was able to land numerous leg kicks to Machida. As we said in our UFC handicapping report Rua would be able to land leg kicks; as it turns out he was able to. Lyoto Machida was forced to dig deep to defend his title against Mauricio Rua at UFC 104 on Saturday. Rua was the majority winner of the fight and but all three judges score the fight 48-47 for Lyoto Machida, who takes the unanimous decision. The crowd boos the scores. On our scorer cards Rua took 4 out of the 5 rounds. The first round was close and Machida could have won the first round but that would have been 3 rounds to 2 for Rua still. IF you read our MMA free pick for this fight we were right on in our prediction except the outcome.
Cain Velasquez proved he was for real as he was able to KO Ben Rothwell but the fight seemed to be stopped prematurely. In the second round Velasquez pinned Rothwell’s left arm against the cage and unloaded with lefts to the head. While Rothwell frees his arm and stands to his feet, referee Steve Mazzagatti stopped the fight.
As we predicted on our MMA handicapping report Chael Sonnen who came in as a +185 betting underdog won the first 2 round before Yushin Okami would wake up and start fighting. We also said to bet the UFC prop for this fight to go to a decision.
As we stated.
“Aside from the steep underdog betting lines, another bet to go with is a UFC prop bet for this fight to go the distance and for Sonnen to win by decision. The first round will be a write off as Okami will come out slow and Sonnen will get the decision in the fight round. In the second, Sonnen will get the takedown points and win the battle on the ground--he will also get the decision for the second round. In the third, Okami will start to control of the fight and will win this round, however, it will be too late”.
