UFC TUF 9 - The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom

All year long the TUF 9 the UK team dominated the US team in every way. From training to group cohesion, the UK team was a well oiled machine that rooted for each other and worked as a team throughout the while season.3 of the 4 finalist were from the UK team and Ross Pearson won the lightweight 6 figure contract over fellow UK teammate Andre Winner by unanimous decision. The front runner for this year’s championship was Damarques Johnson from Dan Henderson’s Team USA but James Wilks from the UK put on a technical clinic as he put on submission after submission until he caught Damarques with a Rear-Naked Choke in the first round.

Underdog Joe Stevenson proved that he still belongs in the UFC with an impressive win over Nate Diaz. The main event proved to be one of the best fights of the year as Diego the Nightmare Sanchez went toe to toe with the Carpenter Clay Guida.

The winner would be ranked number1 in the lightweight division and will meet the winner of the Kenny Florian and BJ Penn fight. The first round had Sanchez just dominating Guida with strikes hat broke his nose and a high leg kick that would have knocked out any other fighter. The fight was a candidate for fight of the year but in the end Diego ends up winning a 3 round decision victory.

Dana White has pulled off a marketing coup as the next season of the Ultimate Fighter will be the biggest in the series history as he has signed Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson one of the biggest name sin MMA with no talent. Also on the next season will be former UFC fighter Wes Sims and highly skilled Roy Nelson. If you are not a fan of the TUF series you will be next year.

The next UFC event wil be UFC 92 The Ultimate that will take place on December 27, 2008 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and for trueMMA pursist this will be the best fight card of the year as there are 3 main event fights (Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad Evans, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir and Quinton Jackson vs. Wanderlei Silva) for MMA fans.

The next UFC event will be UFC 100: The Comeback that will take place on June 13, 2009 in Cologne, Germanyon July 11, 2009 in Las Vegas. Two UFC belts wil be on the line as GSP and WWE star Broick Lesner hope to defend their titles
