UFC TUF 12 - Jonathan Brookins Wins TUF 12 Contract With Win Over Michael Johnson
Jonathan Brookins took a unanimous decision over Michael Johnson, winning the TUF 12 finale in a bout in which he overcame a slow start to become the TUF 12 champion to win the 6 figure UFC contract.
Brookins outwrestled Johnson in the final two rounds after Johnson’s solid standup gave him a big lead in the first round.
Demian Maia won a unanimous decision over Kendall Grove with his superior ground game and might moved back into the UFC middleweight title picture.
Rick Story who was a big underdog on most sports books and was at one time Johny Hendricks was a -400 sports betting favourite but the Duke Roofus student was able to defeat Hendricks for his first MMA career loss. All three judges scored the bout 29-28 for Story.
The UFC marked its first fight at featherweight with Nam Phan fighting WEC fighter Leonard Garcia. Two judges scored the bout 29-28 for Garcia, with the third tabbing it 30-27 for Phan but many thought Phan won the fight.
