UFC TUF 10 -Roy Nelson Wins UFC Contract

Kimbo SLice vs Houston AlexanderWell the most anticipated Ultimate Fighter has comes and went and everyone had there eyes on Kimbo Slice. Well he did not empress anyone in the TUF house and it seemed like he was as good as everyone thought or as good as real mixed martial arts experts thought. Despite the fact Kimbo Slice still rally sucks and he needs a lot of improvement. No idea how he will improve but I foresee his time in the UFC to be a short one.

In the much anticipated fight between fellow heavy strikers Houston Alexander, Kimbo got a favorable fight tailored towards him as it was a Catchweight fight at 215 pounds. Dana obviously wants to keep Kimbo in the UFC as long as possible with easy tailor made fights.

It wasn’t easy buy Kimbo won his first fight as he outpointed Houston Alexander in a unanimous decision victory at “The Ultimate Fighter 10” Season Finale on Saturday at the Palms Casino Resort

Darkness or Big Baby Marcus Jones (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) fought fellow NFL’er Matt Mitrione (New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings). Jones used his dominate grappling to control most of the fight but he soon gassed and Mitrione was able to KO Jones with a right hand to KO the Jones in the second round.

Jon Jones proved he was the devastating striker everyone says he is but he was disqualified for using illegal elbows. Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer stated after the bout that instant replay was utilized by Mazzagatti to make the official ruling. It marked the first time instant replay was administered in the state for a mixed martial arts bout.

Roy Nelson who was the overwhelming pick by the fighting-mma.com staff to win the TUF 10 6 figure contract was the most experience and technical fighter. He has great grappling and has very good hands. Despite his large belly he actually uses it as a weapon when he grapplers. He uses it to pin down opponents and it is an advantage rather than a disadvantage.  But it wasn’t his grappling that won him the title. Nelson won the fight with a punch that virtually KO’ed former NFL pro football player Brendan Schaub to win the 6 figure UFC contract.
