As we said on our UFC handicapping report Yushin Okami is a notorious bad starter and Dean Lister is has horrible stand up. We stated that Okami would start slow and start to pull away in the end. Lister was stuffed by Okami in all of his shoot attempts and he used his size and strength to fort any of the Boogeyman’s pull guard attempts. In the end Okami won another boring fight 30 to 27. Lister is one of the worst strikers in mixed martial arts and he kept on missing with wild looping shots.

Cheick Kongo wins in the first round with a brutal display of ground and pound over Mustapha al Turk. With this impressive display Kongo might be in line for the next heavyweight title fight.

After the UFC weight where a pushing match between Wanderlei Silva and Quinton Jackson the two fighters do not like each other and never have. The fight starts slow as each fighter was cautious but near the end of the first round Rampage landed a punch that KO’ed Silva with a left hook to the jaw that sent the Axe Murderer to the ground.

CB Dollaway is trying to avenge his NCAA wrestling loss to Mike Massenzio and did so by flattening out Massenzio on his back and started cracking the head with both hands until referee Yves Lavigne steps in at 3:01 of the opening round.

The two Ultimate Fighter coaches squared off for the interim UFC heavyweight tile as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira came into this fights as a huge online betting favorite. Frank Mir had a huge road to climb against one of the best fighters in the world and a top three heavyweight. Mir comes out with a nice jab and sending big Nog to the ground but lets him gets up. Mir in a southpaw stance rocked Nogueira again and again lets him up off the ground. At the end of the first round he knocks him down again to score a 10 to 8 round by one judge.

At the start of the second round, Mir rocked Nog for the third time and sends him to the ground and he jumped all over Nog pounded him out until referee Herb Dean stops the mauling at 1:54 of the second stage. Mir became the first person in history to KO Nogueira. Mir’s striking was the sharpest we have ever seen and he will now fight Brock Lesnar to reunify the UFC heavyweight division.

The main event had season one TUF winner Forrest Griffin fighting season two TUF winner Rashad Evans. The first two rounds were controlled by Griffin by scoring big with his low kicks. By the end of the round Griffin lands a hard right and winds the round on all three judges score cards. The third round starts to turn for Evans as Forrest  slips during an exchange and is forced to work from his back. Evans pounds away with punches from both hands as referee Steve Mazzagatti looks on closely. Griffin hangs on and recovers enough to attempt a triangle choke and an omaplata but Evans gets out.  Rashad Evans than lands five hard right hands from the top position that hurts Griffin. Evans pours it on with left-handed power shots until Griffin taps out from the abuse. Rashad Evans claims the UFC light heavyweight title at 2:46 of the third round.

The next UFC event wil be UFC 93 Franklin vs. Henderson that will take place January 17, 2009 at The O2, Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. Denis Kang will make his long awaited debut in the UFC and it will also mark the return of Shogun.
