UFC Betting Review:

UFC 90 Well this was first for the UFC. The main event had Anderson Silva the UFC middleweight champion and pound for pound the best fighter in the mixed martial arts against heavy sports betting underdog Patrick Côté in the UFC 90 main event Saturday night at Allstate Arena.

If you read our MMA prediction we knew Silva was going to take this fight lightly; he dance around and show boated with his superior skill. If he was determined and focused on fighting he would have beat Côté in the first round not the third. That’s why we thought the Cote would be able to land a lucky punch and perhaps with this fight. In the third round, while both fighters where trading shots the fight ended prematurely when Patrick Côté blew out his knee in the third round, giving the fight to Silva via TKO. While Côté lasted longer than any of Silva's previous opponents in the Octagon, he never truly threatened.

In a bet that every online sports bettor should have wagered on Thiago Alves showed he's ready for a UFC title shot, knocking off Josh Koscheck via unanimous decision in a battle of welterweight contenders. When the sports betting lines opened in favor of Alves that was expected, but when the UFC betting lines drastically moved in favor of Koscheck everybody should have jumped on this fight. Josh Koscheck got the TUF betting bounce due to his notoriety on the Ultimate Fight reality show which pushed the sportsbook betting lines in his favor. Alves won a unanimous decision but this fight showed Koscheck’s toughness by talking this fight on two weeks notice. He was fearless in this fight despite being over matched.

Gray Maynard won a unanimous decision over Rich Clementi in a boring lightweight match-up as Maynard used his superior wrestling skills to control Clementi, never allowing him any openings for his submission game.
The biggest up set of the night was Junior dos Santos who won his UFC debut by a devastating uppercut to shock top ten heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum. Werdum was a -800 sports betting favorite and if you bet on Dos Santos you would have made a lot of money at +450.

One of the best fights of the night was a surprise, as two wrestlers Sean Sherk and Tyson Griffin sluggers it out for 3 rounds for a unanimous decision. One of the most anticipated fights of the night was between Hermes Franca and Marcus Aurelio. This was a grudge match between Franca and his former teacher but have since split ways. The fight was suppose to be a grappling clinic but Franca put on a Muay Thai clinic and beat Aurelio with numerous kicks to Aurelio’s legs that clearly made the difference. Franca ended the fight showboating, drawing boos from the crowd which proved what many have suspected and that he is a selfish fighter. In the end Franca won a unanimous three decision but little respect.

Pete Sell Josh Burkman Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00
Hermes Franca Marcus Aurelio Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00
Dan Miller Matt Horwich Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00
Spencer Fisher Shannon Gugerty Submission (Triangle Choke) 3 3:56
Thales Leites Drew McFedries Submission (Rear Naked choke) 1 1:18
Sean Sherk Tyson Griffin Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00
Junior dos Santos Fabricio Werdum TKO (Strikes) 1 1:21
Gray Maynard Rich Clementi Decision (Unanimous) 3 5:00
