UFC 83: Serra vs. Pierre 2

UFC Fight Results and Recap
UFC Betting Review:

Georges St Pierre Weight InVive le Canada . Georges St Pierre reclaims the UFC welterweight championship after his brutal breakdown of Matt “The Terror” Serra in front of his home crowd in Montreal Canada at the Bell Center. As we predicted in our UFC betting matchup, St Pierre put on a straight up mixed martial arts clinic as he as able to take Serra down at will and punish him in half guard with elbows and punches to Serra’s head. Although the punches and elbows were devastating it was his brutal knees to Serra’s ribs and body that did the most damage. GSP landed numerous shots to Serra’s body and I’m sure that Serra’s might have cracked or broken ribs after this fight.

St  Pierre now becomes the undisputed 170 UFC fighter and will look forward to Jon Fitch as his possible next opponent. Georges looks unstoppable with great stand up and ground and pound with enough solid base that even a Brazilian jujitsu black belt could not sweep or gain advantage from. St Pierre did not disappoint the rabid UFC fans in Montréal as he put on a clinic.

The same could not be said for the co main event fight between Rich Franklin and Travis Lutter. We predicted a Lutter upset and he look great at first at Lutter dominated Franklin. But someone forgot to tell Lutter to train for the fight. As we predicted Lutter has more skill and he dominate Franklin with a grappling clinic by gaining top position and even full mount with great base. He even had Franklin in an arm but Rich spun out.
Once the fight went back to the stand up in the last stages of the first round Lutter was gassed. By the start of the second round Lutter basically gave up and Rich barley had to hit Lutter as he fell in exhaustion. Embarrassing performance by Lutter. If I was Joel Silva the UFC match maker I would never have Lutter fight in the UFC again. He failed to make weight against Anderson Silva at UFC 67: All or Nothing and now he doesn’t train hard enough to fight against Franklin. Honestly Lutter is a total joke as he was winning the fight but did not put in the training time to get in shape. He was on his way to beating Franklin but he simply gave up in the end. He could not even go 5 minutes without gassing.

What was a more disappointing fight was the Kalib Starnes versus Nate Quarry fight. Quarry pressured the fight and all Starnes did was run away for the entire three rounds. The Canadian was cheered at the start of the fight but by the end the crowd was cheering for Quarry and rightfully so. Quarry tried to engage and Kalbi either ran away or backed out, He took lots of legs kicks and shots to the head. By the end of the third round Quarry kept on wanting to engage and Starnes kept running away so Quarry taunted Starnes with gestures and laughat in his face. Yet Starnes still failed to fight. This fight was a total joke. After this performance I highly doubt Starnes will ever fight in the UFC again. Quarry won by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-24). The third score marks the widest point margin in a three-round fight in UFC history.

The fight of the night was Demian Maia defeating Ed Herman. Maia used his great jujitsu but applying a triangle choke from the top mount at 2:27 of the 2nd round which put Herman out to sleep.

The Next UFC is UFC 84 I’ll Will which is the long awaited grudge match between BJ Penn and Sean Sherk. This will be one the best UFC fight card with Wanderlai Silva fighting Keith Jardine and Tito Ortiz versus Lyoto Machida.
