UFC Nemesis lived up to its hype as the two main events were worth the price of admission. Georges St Pierre is now the Interim UFC Welterweight Champion as he dismantled Matt Hughes. Hughes came and fought in south paw throughout the fight but that did little to affect St Pierre. He took a page from the Matt Hughes fight game by out wrestling the wrestler with takedowns.

He took Hughes down with little effort. From there he would ground and pound Hughes till the end of the first round. At the start of the second round, he once again took Hughes down and transitioned from inverted triangle, to kimura, to armbar. St. Pierre completely owned the striking department, connecting with 77 strikes to Hughes' 5. With just six seconds remaining in the second period of the five-round fight he eventually submitted Hughes with a vicious arm bar. St Pierre looked unstoppable as he just picked apart Hughes the entire fight.

In a fight 6 years in the making Chuck the Iceman Liddell took on Pride fighter Wanderlai the Axe Murderer Silva. Both fighters, who are on 2 fight losing streaks, fought toe to toe for all three rounds as each man landed devastating shots. In the end, Liddell was too much for Silva as he was able to land the harder and more powerful punches. With Silva’s loss, the Pride curse still lingers as most of the Japanese imports have lost in the UFC. Liddell now remains in the light heavyweight picture with a convincing victory to prove he is indeed still a top fight in the 205 weight division.

Lyoto Machida defeated Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou as her exposed the more powerful Sokoudjou with technique. He was able to control the bigger stronger fighter on the ground by basing out his body weight. In the end, he caught Thierry Sokoudjou with a nasty arm triangle.

Rich Clementi and Melvin Guillard fought to settle their score in the UFC octagon as Clementi was able to manhandle Guillard on the ground. He finally caught him on the rear naked choke. After the fight, there was still bad blood between the two as the trash talking continued.

Manvel Gamburyan defeated Nate Mohr in the first round via anklelock which won UFC submission of the night. He might have broken Mohr’s knee as he had little defense against such a technical fighter.

With Silva’s loss and Liddell win, the UFC light heavyweight division is once again wide open with Silva beating Rampage, Liddell beating Silva, and Rampage beating Liddell. Throw in Shogun, Lyoto Machida, Forrest Griffin and Keith Jardine and the 205 division is a wide open. In the welterweight division the question is if Matt Hughes will retire and the rematch between GSP and Matt Serra.
