How bad is Kimbo Slice?

Wow did EliteXC do everything they could so Kimbo Slice (their bread and butter) to win last Saturday night in front of prime time television on CBS. Kimbo Slice might have won the fight but there were 3 instances where it looks like the ref Dan Miragliotta was doing everything he could to make Kimbo win. Honestly it looked like the fix was in.

As we all know combat sports have always been on the up and up.

Right now Kimbo Slice is keeping EliteXC alive and if he lost against James Thompson the organization has nothing left but a side show circus clown that is known for fighting in alleyways. That’s not mixed martial arts but brawling. Slice needed to win and EliteXC needed him to win, so EltieXC would not be considered a joke organization. If Kimbo lost, the organization and the league’s creditability would be gone so why not push the fight in favor for Kimbo.
 

One thing that is for sure and that is Kimbo Slice is not a real MMA fighter and he resembles a Houston Alexander; a one dimensional fighter. Kimbo was popularized by the Internet but his skills are so unproven. He was badly exposed by Thompson who lost his last two fights by KO.

If you are a true mixed martial arts fan you like the sports for it art and skill and not for its brutality. Kimbo Slice has no business being a headliner. He reverts the sports back 15 years to the days of just street brawlers. MMA is much better than this and having Kimbo in MMA is not good for the industry. Dana White is right in the fact that Kimbo has no business in MMA and would not be able to beat any top level fighters in the UFC.

Also let’s not applaud Kimbo for battling from sleeping in the streets and bathing in the ocean like Mauro Ranallo stated. He career has been basically a bodyguard for hire for a Miami-based pornography production/promotion company responsible for a number of popular adult subscription websites, such as MILF Hunter.

Now for the conspiracy theory.

First Dan Miragliotta has not been refereeing big time fights for a long time now. First and foremost he is no John McCarthy, Yves Lavigne, Herb Dean or Steve Mazzagatti and he does not have the experience or time refereeing big time fights.

In the first round James Thompson had Kimbo Slice in a tight guillotine choke and it looked like he tapped four times to Thompson’s side. Thompson even said he tapped as he screamed it to Dan Miragliotta.

In the second round James Thompson had Kimbo on the ground and in side control and was maneuvering for punches or a submission and again Dan Miragliotta stood up the fighters prematurely when Thompson was working. Standing the fighters up gave the definite advantage to Kimbo Slice. Why wasn’t Thompson allowed to fight on the ground when he had a dominate position and not stalling.

And finally in the third round the fight looked like it was prematurely stopped after Kimbo popped hit Thompson and burst his cauliflower ear.

All I can say is hat Kimbo is perfect due to Dan Miragliotta and the EltieXC. What’s next for Kimbo? How about learning how to fight first. We should not be cheering this person; we should be ashamed we are actually watching him.

Kimbo Slice needs to learn and what mixed martial arts truly is and so should us fans. The fight was bad and embrassing for mixed martial arts.
