Hi Geoff Mackay here. Here are the latest updates and online betting lines for UFC 121 along with the UFC prop bets.

In my opinion Tom “The Filthy Mauler” Lawloris a steal at +145 verus Cote. Lawlor is a very well rounded fighter and he has the grappling, speed and wrestling on his side. I also like the +160 on Paul “Relentless” Taylor to beat Sam Stout who is a online betting favorite at -200. To me Stout is a very over rated fighter and very one dimensional.

One UFC bet I would stay away from is the Paulo Thiago versus Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez. To me this fight is too tough to call. I do like the fact that Diego has gone back to the Greg Jackson camp.

One underdog bet I really love is for Tito Ortiz to beat Matt Hamill. Hamill likes to push his punches and he looks very clumsy in the UFC octagon. In most fights where the student fights or idolizes the teacher the teacher usually wins the fight.

As I said in my UFC matchup report

+130 for Ortiz is a great underdog bet and you are truly getting good value for your money on this one—bet heavily. Ortiz may have taken some time off for surgery but he is a tireless trainer and will be in shape for this fight. There is no doubt in my mind Ortiz will come primed and ready and will put on a good show against Hamill, who still needs to work on filing out his MMA game.

http://fighting-mma.com/mma-matchups/2010/ufc-121-tito-ortiz-matt-hamill.php

One fight I think is a lock is for Jake Shields to beat Kampmann. Shields is one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world who, by the way, potentially has the ability to take UFC 185 middleweight champion Anderson Silva or UFC 170 pound welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

And in the main event I hate to say it but Brock will win this fight. Cain is a better and more technical fighter but when 285 pounds comes at you and is on top of you what can anyone do.

Below are the UFC 121 betting odds by Bodog along with UFC 121 prop bets

Patrick “The Predator” Cote -175
Tom “The Filthy Mauler” Lawlor +145

Sam “Hands of Stone” Stout-200
Paul “Relentless” Taylor +160

Jon Madsen -220
Gilbert “The Hurricane” Yvel +180

Court “The Crusher” McGee -250
Ryan Jensen +195

Dong-Yi Yang -125
Chris Camozzi -105

Daniel “Ninja” Roberts -145
Mike “The Joker” Guymon +115

Paulo Thiago -125
Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez -105

Gabriel “Napao” Gonzaga -160
Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub +130

Matt “The Hammer” Hamill -170
Tito “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz +140

Jake Shields -220
Martin “Hitman” Kampmann +180

Brock Lesnar -160
Cain Velasquez +130

Brock Lesnar wins inside distance -120
Brock Lesnar wins by 5 round decision +350
Cain Velasquez wins inside distance +180
Cain Velasquez wins by 5 round decision +425
Draw +4200

Brock Lesnar Vs. Cain Velasquez completes 1 full round -260
Brock Lesnar Vs. Cain Velasquez won’t complete 1 full round +200

Brock Lesnar Vs. Cain Velasquez completes 2 full rounds -160
Brock Lesnar Vs. Cain Velasquez won’t complete 2 full rounds +120

Brock Lesnar Vs. Cain Velasquez completes 4 full rounds +300
Brock Lesnar Vs. Cain Velasquez won’t complete 4 full rounds -500

Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Noons II Betting Lines

Here are the Geoff Mackay Strikeforce Diaz vs Noons II betting lines that will be held on October 9, 2010 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, United States.

The main event will be a rematch between Nick Diaz and KJ Noons after the first bout was stopped because of a cut on the head of Diaz for the Elite XC 160lbs championship.

There will be the women title fight on the line as hard hitting Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman will fight Marloes Coenen. Kaufman is a Canadian fighter that fights for Zuma and is a purple belt under Adam Zugec in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu who was under Marcus Soares and Carlson Gracie and is currently the #2-ranked pound-for-pound female MMA fighter in the world.

The most exciting fight of the night will be Josh Thomson vs. Gesias Cavalcante. Both fights are exciting and like to push the pace.

Below are the online betting lines for Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Noons II.

Ron Keslar -120
Eric Lawson -110

Tyron “T-Wood” Woodley -290
Andre Galvao +230

Sarah Kaufman -300
Marloes “Rumina” Coenen +240

Josh “The Punk” Thomson -165
Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante +135

Nick Diaz -265
K.J. Noons +205

The biggest surprise is why Andre Galvao is an underdog versus Tyron “T-Wood” Woodley. Galvao won the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship and IBJJF Pan American Championships multiple times and has also taken third place in the 2007 ADCC World Championship at both -77 kg and open weight. He trains at Black House with Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida.

Andre Galvao is known as one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners of this century. He has amassed gold medals at every belt in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships, and also holds gold medals in nearly every Jiu-Jitsu state, national, and international tournament. He is a black belt student under, Fernando “Terere” Augusto, arguably one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu middleweight competitors of all time.

At +230 you should be a lot on Galvao to win this fight. Tyron Woodley is a wrestler but has most of his wins by decisions. He won’t be able to compete on the ground with Galvao . Bet heavily on Galvao to submit Woodley.

UFC 119 is this weekend and the Bodog has out the odds out for the mixed martial arts events. After careful analysis of the event here are my:

Geoff Mackay UFC 119 fight picks

I like Matt “Meat” Mitrione to beat Joey “Mexicutioner” Beltran. Mitrione is a rising talent and he has a lot of power in his hands and is well trained by Duke Roufus. When it comes to striking Beltran is more powerful of the two. Though he has more experience in MMA, it is my opinion Mitrione’s training with Roufus will help him deal with Beltran’s onslaught—with a longer reach and no doubt better kicks, Mitrione will be able to keep Beltran at bay as he tries to get the inside.

I also like TJ Grant at -155. He has more experience in the octagon and will KO Julio Paulino in the second round.

In the Sean “The Muscle Shark” Sherk fight I like him to beat Evan Dunham. A lot of people are writing off the former champ and at +180 he is a solid bet to beat the better grappler in Evan Dunham. Sherk has only lost to top ten fighters and Dunham is not a top ten fighter.

So to me this is the best bet of the night.

To me Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard is still a top riding star and will beat Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens. +170 is a good price to get Guillard at.

This is no way Joe “El Dirte” Doerksen will beat CB “The Doberman” Dollaway. Dollaway has too much power and strength. Though the odds are steep to me, but this fight is a lock at -325.

Lytle has the reach, technical striking, power, and kicks to stave off Serra. He is the bigger and faster fighter on the ground and will not be caught in Serra’s submission attempts. If this fight stays standing Lytle will score the points and punish Serra.

Despite my love for Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira, Ryan “Darth” Bader is a beast and has much more power. Bader has the wrestling ability and will get the takedowns to score points.

In the main event Mir will take Filipović apart in this fight— Filipović is no longer the fighter he once was and Mir is hungry to get back into the UFC heavyweight title mix. Though I expect Mir to down Filipović in the first round with strikes, a nice sized prop bet on a first round stoppage in addition to the money line sports bet would work.

Below are the UFC 119 betting lines

Matt “Meat” Mitrione -145
Joey “Mexicutioner” Beltran +115

TJ Grant -155
Julio Paulino +125

Sean “The Muscle Shark” Sherk +180
Evan Dunham -220

Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard -170
Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens +140

CB “The Doberman” Dollaway -325
Joe “El Dirte” Doerksen +250

Matt “The Terror” Serra +110
Chris “Lights Out” Lytle -140

Ryan “Darth” Bader -170
Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira +140

Frank Mir -300
Mirko Filipovic +240

Geoff Mackay’s UFC 120 Predictions

Hi Geoff Mackay here. I have analyzed and carefully thought my mixed martial arts predictions for this event. I will now highlight 3 of the best UFC bets to make for this event. I feel the Brits won’t do so well in their home country. So in my UFC matchups I am picking 3 underdog bets I think will make the most money.
Michael “The Count” Bisping (-260) vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama (+200)

Bisping has come a long way but I still think Akiyama has more skills and better talent to win this fight. I can see Akiyama staying out of Bisping’s range and coming in only for the hit and frustrating Bisping with his constant movement. Bisping is a long kicker and needs a big wind up, but because of this long drawn out motion, fighters can see this coming and the faster ones have more than enough time for evasive action. With a missed kick Bisping would be in a vulnerable position open to hits and take downs, however, if he connects, he could cause some serious damage.

Given the styles of these two fighters there is a chance this one may go to the judges—Akiyama will dance around and use his speed to evade Bisping while Bisping will chase Akiyama about, strike and not connect.

Look for Akiyama to Win a Close Three Round Decision

Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (-165) vs. Carlos “Natural Born Killer” Condit (+135)

Condit is one of the most aggressive and game fighters in MMA—he has endless energy, a solid chin, and great grappling. He will overwhelm Hardy with pressure and skill which will cause Hardy to gas out. Hardy is not a finisher as all but one of his fights in the UFC have gone to decision with two of them being a split.

When it comes to sports betting Condit should really not be the underdog which makes this is a great match to lay some serious coin on. The former champion with well rounded skills will overwhelm Hardy with pressure and talent.

Look for Condit to Submit Hardy in the Second Round with a Rear Naked Choke

John “The Hitman” Hathaway vs. Mike “Quicksand “ Pyle

UFC betting wise Hathaway is going to come into this fight as a pretty big underdog. The odds might be +250 on the moneyline for Hathaway to be the underdog and -300 for Pyle to win this fight. I really like the power and strength of Hathaway and I expect him to KO Pyle and this will be a great underdog bet to make.

Pyle has not fought very many heavy strikers and the once he has he has a lot of trouble with. He is going to have a lot of problems with Hathaway and that is the reason why I am picking the dog in this fight.

Look for Hathaway to KO Pyle in the Second Round

So that’s it for Geoff Mackay’s UFC 120 picks

Here are my quick thoughts on the the reast of the card

Heavyweight bout: Cheick Kongo vs.s Travis Browne - Cheick Kongo by second round KO

Welterweight bout: James Wilks vs. Claude Patrick - James Wilks by second round rear naked choke

Light Heavyweight bout: Cyrille Diabaté vs. Alexander Gustafsson - Cyrille Diabaté by frist round KO

Heavyweight bout: Rob Broughton vs. Vinicius Queiroz - Vinicius Queiroz by first round submission

Light Heavyweight bout: Steve Cantwell vs. Stanislav Nedkov - Steve Cantwell by first round KO

Lightweight bout: Paul Sass vs. Mark Holst - Paul Sass by 3 round decision

Lightweight bout: Spencer Fisher vs. Kurt Warburton - Spencer Fisher by 3 round decision

Light Heavyweight bout: James McSweeney vs. Tom Blackledge - James McSweeney by first round KO

I am happy to be on board and contribute my two cents in for UFC betting.

This event is not very attractive to me. I am going ot give the Geoff Mackay seal of approval UFC betting pick to make for this fight.

UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares, also known as UFC Fight Night 22 will take place on September 15, 2010 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. The event will precede the season premiere of The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck.

The main event will have leg lock specialist Rousimar Palhares fighting the well rounded Nate Marquardt. I predict Marquardt will rebound for his loss to Chael Sonnen and get back in the UFC middleweight title mix.

I feel Marquardt will use his striking and avoid the vicious leg lock by Palhares. Marquardt is a great grappler and will know how to defend his sub attempts.

One sports bet I recommend to bet on is for Cole Miller to beat Ross Pearson. I have no idea why Miller is the +211 betting underdog but he is way more well rounded than Pearson who is just a striker. Person is a short fighter and Miller will use his reach and grappling to beat Pearson.

This is the best UFC betting pick to make.

My online betting picks for this fight are

Nate Marquardt -225
Cole Miller +211

Remember if you win you heard it first from Geoff MacKay.

Below are the UFC betting odds for this event

Rousimar Palhares+185
Nate Marquardt -225

Charles Oliveira +145
Efrain Escudero -175

Gleison Tibau +105
Jim Miller -135

Cole Miller +211
Ross Pearson -271

John Gunderson -135
Yves Edwards +105

Kyle Kingsbury +150
Jared Hamman -180

After I initially pondered at these Ultimate Fighting Championship gambling lines I had to consider a another look. I cannot believe that The Pitbull (22-6) is the online betting favorite. I might have though the betting lines would be -110 for both MMA fighters.

Jon Fitch is the most under rated UFC fighter and the rationale Jon Fitch is not the online betting favorite is that he is not an exciting fighter. Fitch is not a glamorous MMA fighter and he does not have outstanding wins but he is a professional all around UFC martial artist. He is like Dan Henderson and wins fights through attrition and going the distance. Out of his 21 wins eleven have been be decision with his last six UFC matches decided upon the judges. Remember that Jon Fitch has faced head on top rated level UFC martial artists and has only dropped to GSP Wilson Gouveia, and his initial mixed martial arts fight as opposed to Mike Pyle. The quantity of fighters he has beaten is extraordinary with victories over Paulo Thiago, Akihiro Gono, Chris Wilson, Diego Sanchez, Roan Carneiro, Josh Burkman, Brock Larson, and Alves.

Before his loss to Georges St Pierre, Fitch was on a sixteen fight winning streak everyone and anyone. He mastered them all and it proved that he could match up MMA from vantage point.

Striking wise Alves is a much better striker. He has a lot of power and has 10 KO’s out of his 16 victories. However, Fitch has the heart and head to take the shots and has only been KO once in his career. That was early on in his career against a much heavier Wilson Gouveia. Since then he has fought many tough strikers who could KO him like Diego Sanchez, Luigi Fioravanti, Shonie Carter, Paulo Thiago, Mike Pierce, Josh Burkman and Brock Larson.

The Pitbull is not generally known as a martial artist that could begin the later MMA rounds but his has been able to remove guys . He’s a 2nd round fighter and when he goes past the second rounds he begins to fade. He might be able to get his shots however, you can’t knock out the heart of Fitch. In the 1st battle between the two Alves was taking the match and he roughly knocked out Fitch but finally Fitch turned it around and wound up knocking out the American Top Team MMA fighter late in the 2nd round.

Jon dominates Alves in wrestling. Jon Fitch have the opportunity to take Thiago down thanks to his excellent wrestling. Fitch was a member of the Purdue wrestling team, a 4-year letter-man and was underneath Tom Erikson and became the team captain of his wrestling squad. He will have the take-down points but Alves does possess a good sprawl and even St Pierre had difficulties controlling Alves down once he got the takedown.

This MMA fight will likely go to judge’s decision since most of Jon Fitch’s MMA fights go the distance and a good wager is a novelty wager for this fight to go the distance. Jon Fitch will win this match up on takedown points and he will accumulate some shots on the ground. He won’t be able hold Alves but Fitch will score the tallies. The Pitbull will start off speedy but will gas out late in the 2nd round and into the third and that when Jon will win the fight.

With such a long lay off Alves will be rusty in this fight. I expect his cardio to suffer. At the best of time he had bad cardio. What do you think a yearlong lay off will do for him.

FRIDAY, MAY 21,AT ROSE GARDEN ARENA IN PORTLAND, ORE.

Unbeaten “Relentless” Roger Bowling To Make STRIKEFORCE Debut Opposite Bobby Voelker; Tickets On Sale

NEW YORK (April 22, 2010) -Former Rickson Gracie protégé and highly confident middleweight (185 pounds) “King” Kevin Casey (3-1) of Los Angeles will face the toughest test of his Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) career when he faces former Olympic wrestling silver medalist and MMA superstar Matt “The Law” Lindland (21-7) of Oregon City, Ore., in the STRIKEFORCE Challengers main event at Rose Garden Arena in Portland, Ore. on Friday, May 21.

A welterweight (170 pounds) battle between undefeated rising star “Relentless” Roger Bowling (7-0) of Columbus, Ohio, who’ll be making his STRIKEFORCE debut, and hard-hitting brawler “Vicious” Bobby Voelker (21-7) of Kansas City, Kan., has been added to the card.

In previously announced matchups, promising, unbeaten welterweight Tyron “T-Wood” Woodley (6-0) of St. Louis will face local favorite Nathan Coy (8-2) of Portland while Kerry Vera (2-0), of San Diego, Calif., and Julianna “The Venezuelan Vixen” Pena (2-0) of Spokane, Wash., will collide in a battle of 135-pound female prospects.

Tickets are on sale at the Rose Garden Box Office, all participating Safeway/TicketsWest outlets, or by calling (877) 789-ROSE (7673). They also can be purchased online at www.ComcastTIX.com <http://www.comcasttix.com/> and STRIKEFORCE’s official website (www.strikeforce.com).

Casey, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert schooled by famed master Rickson Gracie, won his first start in 13 months with a dominant, first round (1:41) submission (rear-naked choke) of Chad Vance at STRIKEFORCE: Challengers last Nov. 20 in Kansas City.

The multi-talented Casey is also a hip-hop artist as well as a friend and business partner of MTV reality series superstar and Beverly Hills socialite, Spencer Pratt. Casey recently recorded the single, “No Surrender.”

Lindland captured the silver medal in Greco Roman wrestling while representing The United States at the 2000 Summer Olympics. A former All-American wrestler for University of Nebraska and the 1993 NCAA Big Eight conference champion, the 39-year-old will look to return to his winning ways after suffering two consecutive defeats.

The six-foot Lindland lost his last outing on a first- round submission (arm triangle choke) to superstar Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at STRIKEFORCE: Evolution on Dec. 19, 2009. During a stellar 13-year MMA career, Lindland has fought the best, including the famed Fedor Emelianenko, and has triumphed over a number of all-time greats, among them former UFC champions Pat Miletich and Carlos Newton.

Two years ago, Lindland entered the world of politics, winning the Oregon Republican Party’s nomination for the House of Representatives before being defeated in the general election.

Nothing short of a wrecking machine, Bowling has been rolling since making his MMA debut in June 2007. The five-foot-nine, 28-year-old registered six consecutive first-round victories at the outset of his career before he had to settle for a 0:14, second-round TKO (punches) over Jerrod Appenzeller in his last start last Feb. 10.

The six-foot-one Voelker, who specializes in American Jiu-Jitsu, has won four of his last five fights, including a dramatic, come-from-behind second-round TKO (punches) over Erik Apple at the STRIKEFORCE: Challengers event last Nov. 20 in Kansas City.

A pro since February 2006, Voelker was rocked and dropped early in the opening round. But the momentum began to change by midway through the five-minute session.

Near the conclusion of the round, Voelker had assumed control, dropped Apple with an overhand right early in the second, pounced on his crumpled opponent and brought about a stoppage at the 1:23 mark of the round.

Rose Garden Arena doors will open for the STRIKEFORCE Challengers event at 5:15 p.m. The first preliminary card bout will begin at 6 p.m. and the first main card bout will begin at 8 p.m.

The event will be televised live on SHOWTIME® at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).

Frank Mir will be squaring off against Shane “The Engineer” Carwin for the UFC title. The winner of this tilt will either face Cain Velesquez for the championship or Brock Lesnar if he is good enough from his fight of sickness. If you are into UFC and mixed martial arts betting than this fight is the one for you. A person would have believed the MMA sportsbook odds would be further apart, but the truth is, Mir is acquiring favorable betting lines opening up at -160.

As with Cain Velesquez, the jury is still out on whether Carwin is as effective as he is created to be. Cain Velesquez was able to mute his pundits with his fight versus Big Nog at UFC 110 nonetheless I do not imagine Shane Carwin will be able to do so against Frank as Frank Mir has turned out to be quite the mma fighter of late as he will probably use his size to his edge in this mixed martial arts fight. Like all wrestlers, Shane Carwin utilizes his utter toughness for punching which is not proficient. Mir has matured into a very the technical striker and with his current muscle gain , is skilled to pack a lot of strength into his punches.

Mir has been training with, a former professional kickboxer and a coach in striking He has been in a position to instruct Mir to be more specialized with his striking which has greatly increased his ability, proof of which was apparent when Frank dismantled Big Nog and a UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez against Cheick Kongo . At present within the UFC heavyweight division, Mir has the greatest 1-2 combination with his jab cross or jab upper becoming pretty awesome.

Carwin has better wrestling but it is improbable he will be able to use them in this battle. In his NCAA wrestling days Carwin was twice the Div 2 runner up, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association II Wrestling Heavyweight National Champion in 1999. In addition to he was also a 2-time All-American in football for Western State. Currently he tries to keep his skills at par as a volunteer coach . Given his depth on the wrestling mats Mir will make an effort to nullify Carwin’s strategy by keeping this battle standing up.

On power alone he is a blue belt but in comparison to someone like Mir, he is certainly out matched—especially when it comes to grappling. Mir is at this time one of the grapplers in the Ufc and only after 5 years of training, he gained his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Ricardo Pires, a fourth degree black belt under Sergio Penha—this was right after his win over Sylvia at UFC 48: Payback. He presently trains under Osvaldo Alves but began his jiu-jitsu under Marcos Soares . As Soares is one of the most technical instructors in the world, his fundamentals has given Frank a great top game, merged with his tutelage under Alves and Pires, Frank has also been able to perfect his bottom game into something to be reckoned with. Despite his qualifications on the mats, it is less likely Carwin will have a likelihood on grappling. Frank is very well known on the bottom and wants to attack the legs and ankles. Mir favours several submissions and Shane just will not have the necessary expertise to steer out of Frank Mir’s assaults.

Carwin is a big and powerful MMA fighter who might be UFC champ one day, having said that, at the present he must confront Frank , a focused and committed MMA fighter. Mir has trained hard to get himself back to the top of the UFC. Gone are the days when his work ethic and training practices were questioned and he has since committed himself to being the optimum mixed martial arts martial artist he can be in preparation for a re-match with Brock Lesnar. Though Shane is in greater condition, however he has yet to be in a struggle further than the very first round. Shane’s physique requires more oxygenated blood or else fatigue sets in rapidly.

When it comes to UFC sports betting Frank -160 is a steal. Logically, I would have thought the online betting lines would have been -180 or -190 in favour of Frank. The key to this fight is Frank Mir’s improving stand-up power and technique. He will use quick striking combos to eastablish takedowns and once on top, he will out-match Carwin in a situation he doesn’t want to be in.

If you read your MMA matchup report we staed that

This fight will eventually go to the ground and Cain will try to maintain top position but Nogueira will bait him into one position and Velasquez will over commit and that is when Minotauro will submit him.

UFC betting wise the -120 lines for Nogueira is a good price to wager at. I would have set the Nogueira betting lines a bit higher, so to be this is a high value bet.

Nick Penner was happy with getting the win but not by the methods with which it came.

He learned a lesson about preparation, and is taking it to heart as he prepares for his next fight which comes with another test of its own. Penner (9-1), one of the top prospects in the Maximum Fighting Championship, puts his six-fight winning streak on the line at MFC 24: Heat XC when he takes on Chris “The Exorcist” Price (15-3). The fight will be Penner’s first at light heavyweight, moving down from the heavyweight ranks, but it is a transition he expects will benefit him in a big way.

“I feel good about the drop - I’m just not big enough to fight at heavyweight. My training has changed a lot as a light heavyweight with working more on endurance and explosiveness,” said Penner, who has a good all-around game with skills in both stand-up, thanks to a background in kick-boxing, and on the ground as evidenced by five wins coming via submission.

Penner’s last outing, which was his final hurrah as a heavyweight, was a successful one albeit not as impressive as many insiders has expected. He took too much punishment early on and the fight was in danger of being stopped due to a nasty gash along his eyebrow, but Penner still prevailed, ultimately finishing off Ryan Fortin with a second-round rear-naked choke.

“I let many people down in that fight. Even though I won, I wasn’t happy with my performance. I took Fortin far too lightly,” admitted Penner. “I thought he was just a big lumbering guy but he’s definitely a proficient fighter. I think I need to get punched in the head and cut to wake up. The positive out of that fight is that it strengthened my belief that when faced with adversity, I can break through and come out on top.”

Penner won’t be given a second chance to test his resolve against Price. The Edmonton, Alberta, product will need to be sharper, faster, and more intense if he hopes to proceed in his quest to face the upper echelon in the MFC’s 205-pound ranks.

“The fight will be a trial by fire as an introduction into the light heavyweight division,” said Penner. “I think a win over Price will be a statement to everyone. He’ll be a stiff test - he’s been around and he has a great record. But my coaches and I have watched tape on him and we’ve seen a few holes that we can exploit.

“It should be fun and I expect to finish him off in the third round by TKO.”
