Geoff Mackays UFC 119 Fight Picks

UFC 119 is this weekend and the Bodog has out the odds out for the mixed martial arts events. After careful analysis of the event here are my:

Geoff Mackay UFC 119 fight picks

I like Matt “Meat” Mitrione to beat Joey “Mexicutioner” Beltran. Mitrione is a rising talent and he has a lot of power in his hands and is well trained by Duke Roufus. When it comes to striking Beltran is more powerful of the two. Though he has more experience in MMA, it is my opinion Mitrione’s training with Roufus will help him deal with Beltran’s onslaught—with a longer reach and no doubt better kicks, Mitrione will be able to keep Beltran at bay as he tries to get the inside.

I also like TJ Grant at -155. He has more experience in the octagon and will KO Julio Paulino in the second round.

In the Sean “The Muscle Shark” Sherk fight I like him to beat Evan Dunham. A lot of people are writing off the former champ and at +180 he is a solid bet to beat the better grappler in Evan Dunham. Sherk has only lost to top ten fighters and Dunham is not a top ten fighter.

So to me this is the best bet of the night.

To me Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard is still a top riding star and will beat Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens. +170 is a good price to get Guillard at.

This is no way Joe “El Dirte” Doerksen will beat CB “The Doberman” Dollaway. Dollaway has too much power and strength. Though the odds are steep to me, but this fight is a lock at -325.

Lytle has the reach, technical striking, power, and kicks to stave off Serra. He is the bigger and faster fighter on the ground and will not be caught in Serra’s submission attempts. If this fight stays standing Lytle will score the points and punish Serra.

Despite my love for Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira, Ryan “Darth” Bader is a beast and has much more power. Bader has the wrestling ability and will get the takedowns to score points.

In the main event Mir will take Filipović apart in this fight— Filipović is no longer the fighter he once was and Mir is hungry to get back into the UFC heavyweight title mix. Though I expect Mir to down Filipović in the first round with strikes, a nice sized prop bet on a first round stoppage in addition to the money line sports bet would work.

Below are the UFC 119 betting lines

Matt “Meat” Mitrione -145
Joey “Mexicutioner” Beltran +115

TJ Grant -155
Julio Paulino +125

Sean “The Muscle Shark” Sherk +180
Evan Dunham -220

Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard -170
Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens +140

CB “The Doberman” Dollaway -325
Joe “El Dirte” Doerksen +250

Matt “The Terror” Serra +110
Chris “Lights Out” Lytle -140

Ryan “Darth” Bader -170
Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira +140

Frank Mir -300
Mirko Filipovic +240

Geoff Mackay’s UFC 120 Predictions

Geoff Mackay’s UFC 120 Predictions

UFC 120 Hi Geoff Mackay here. I have analyzed and carefully thought my mixed martial arts predictions for this event. I will now highlight 3 of the best UFC bets to make for this event. I feel the Brits won’t do so well in their home country. So in my UFC matchups I am picking 3 underdog bets I think will make the most money.
Michael “The Count” Bisping (-260) vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama (+200)

Bisping has come a long way but I still think Akiyama has more skills and better talent to win this fight. I can see Akiyama staying out of Bisping’s range and coming in only for the hit and frustrating Bisping with his constant movement. Bisping is a long kicker and needs a big wind up, but because of this long drawn out motion, fighters can see this coming and the faster ones have more than enough time for evasive action. With a missed kick Bisping would be in a vulnerable position open to hits and take downs, however, if he connects, he could cause some serious damage.

Given the styles of these two fighters there is a chance this one may go to the judges—Akiyama will dance around and use his speed to evade Bisping while Bisping will chase Akiyama about, strike and not connect.

Look for Akiyama to Win a Close Three Round Decision

Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (-165) vs. Carlos “Natural Born Killer” Condit (+135)

Condit is one of the most aggressive and game fighters in MMA—he has endless energy, a solid chin, and great grappling. He will overwhelm Hardy with pressure and skill which will cause Hardy to gas out. Hardy is not a finisher as all but one of his fights in the UFC have gone to decision with two of them being a split.

When it comes to sports betting Condit should really not be the underdog which makes this is a great match to lay some serious coin on. The former champion with well rounded skills will overwhelm Hardy with pressure and talent.

Look for Condit to Submit Hardy in the Second Round with a Rear Naked Choke

John “The Hitman” Hathaway vs. Mike “Quicksand “ Pyle

UFC betting wise Hathaway is going to come into this fight as a pretty big underdog. The odds might be +250 on the moneyline for Hathaway to be the underdog and -300 for Pyle to win this fight. I really like the power and strength of Hathaway and I expect him to KO Pyle and this will be a great underdog bet to make.

Pyle has not fought very many heavy strikers and the once he has he has a lot of trouble with. He is going to have a lot of problems with Hathaway and that is the reason why I am picking the dog in this fight.

Look for Hathaway to KO Pyle in the Second Round

So that’s it for Geoff Mackay’s UFC 120 picks

Here are my quick thoughts on the the reast of the card

Heavyweight bout: Cheick Kongo vs.s Travis Browne - Cheick Kongo by second round KO

Welterweight bout: James Wilks vs. Claude Patrick - James Wilks by second round rear naked choke

Light Heavyweight bout: Cyrille Diabaté vs. Alexander Gustafsson - Cyrille Diabaté by frist round KO

Heavyweight bout: Rob Broughton vs. Vinicius Queiroz - Vinicius Queiroz by first round submission

Light Heavyweight bout: Steve Cantwell vs. Stanislav Nedkov - Steve Cantwell by first round KO

Lightweight bout: Paul Sass vs. Mark Holst - Paul Sass by 3 round decision

Lightweight bout: Spencer Fisher vs. Kurt Warburton - Spencer Fisher by 3 round decision

Light Heavyweight bout: James McSweeney vs. Tom Blackledge - James McSweeney by first round KO

Geoff Mackay’s UFC Fight Night 22 Picks

Posted on September 15th, 2010 in MMA Betting by admin

Sports Betting at Sportsbook.comHi My name is Geoff Mackay and I have been an avid MMA fan for some time. I am happy to be on board and contribute my two cents in for UFC betting.

This event is not very attractive to me. I am going ot give the Geoff Mackay seal of approval UFC betting pick to make for this fight.

UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares, also known as UFC Fight Night 22 will take place on September 15, 2010 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. The event will precede the season premiere of The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck.

The main event will have leg lock specialist Rousimar Palhares fighting the well rounded Nate Marquardt. I predict Marquardt will rebound for his loss to Chael Sonnen and get back in the UFC middleweight title mix.

I feel Marquardt will use his striking and avoid the vicious leg lock by Palhares. Marquardt is a great grappler and will know how to defend his sub attempts.

One sports bet I recommend to bet on is for Cole Miller to beat Ross Pearson. I have no idea why Miller is the +211 betting underdog but he is way more well rounded than Pearson who is just a striker. Person is a short fighter and Miller will use his reach and grappling to beat Pearson.

This is the best UFC betting pick to make.

My online betting picks for this fight are

Nate Marquardt -225
Cole Miller +211

Remember if you win you heard it first from Geoff MacKay.

Below are the UFC betting odds for this event

Rousimar Palhares+185
