UFC 90 Betting is Full of Underdogs

Posted on October 24th, 2008 in MMA Betting, MMA News, UFC Betting Matchups, UFC Odds by admin

At UFC 90 there are a number of good underdog bets to make this weekend. The staff here have concluded that this might be the biggest underdog winners in UFC history. One of the biggest slips by the online sportsbook odds makers at this mixed martial arts event is the fight between Thiago Alves and Josh Koscheck.

When lines first opened up Alves was a -155 betting favorite but a lot of money has been placed on Koscheck and he went form a +115 underdog to -165 betting favorite. I have never seen lines move like this before for MMA.

In any case this should be win for online UFC bettors as the public seems to love those TUF. Don’t think the general public puts ANY thought into the fact that this is a short notice fight that has Koscheck had been training for a entirely different type of MMA fighter where Alves only needs to tweak his preparation just a bit since Diego Sanchez & Josh Koscheck have similar fighting styles.

I highly recommend a large play on Thiago Alves who is bigger stronger and has more skills that Koscheck in this fight. Please read our UFC handicapping report for this fight

For the brave bettors you can always go the long shot with a bet on Cote to beat Anderson Silva. Just a small play will pay out a huge return. We are actually making a small play on Silva. Nothing to dent the rent check but to us it is worth a sniff. Matt Serra anyone?

Rich Clementi is a more season MMA fighter than Gray Maynard and he is a pretty large dog at +190. Read the full UFC preview report for this fight.

Also on our betting radar is the underdog pick for Shannon Gugerty to beat Spencer Fisher. Fisher is a bigger name so people know who he is but Shannon Gugerty is 11 and 2 and a City Boxing product fighter and Fisher is a Miletich Martial Arts. Frankly I think Miletich fighters do not hold the same prestige as they once did. Gugerty can fight on the ground and has technically good boxing skills while Fisher is a brawler that puts on a good show. At +275 at most sportsbook I would lay a fair chunk on Shannon Gugerty.

Marcus Aurelio use to be a top ten lightweight fighter and still has the potential to crack the top ten again. On the ground he is a much better fighter than Hermes Franca and this will be a ground fight. Franca has better hands but not enough power to KO Aurelio. At +160 this is another great dog pick to make.

Out last recommend underdog pick for UFC 90 is for Pete Sell to beat Josh Burkman. We have never like Burkman as a fighter and he gets a lot of betting juice because Burkman was a contestant on the Ultimate Fighter 2. Technically Burkaman is a better ground fighter despite Sell being a is a black belt under teacher and fellow mixed martial artist Matt Serra in East Meadow, New York, but Sell has overwhelming knock out power.

At +180 bet on lot of Pete Sell to win this fight

The staff at www.fighting-mma.com are going to parlay our UFC underdog recommendations at 5 Dimes.com for Alves at +135, Clementi at +190, Gugerty at +275, Aurelio at +160 and Pete Sell at +180.

Our 100 dollar parlay bet for all these fighters to win will net us $18,504.95

UFC 91, UFC 92 and UFC 93 Early Online Sports Betting Lines

Posted on October 20th, 2008 in MMA Betting, UFC Betting Matchups, UFC News, UFC Odds by admin

Both Bookmaker.com and BetCRIS.com have released their online sports betting odds for the next up coming UFC events. Both online sportsbooks are known for coming out with the betting odds before another online Internet gambling site.

Both sportsbook have released online betting odds for UFC 91, UFC 92 and UFC 93

The biggest fight in the MMA history between former WWE star Brock Lesnar  and Randy Couture  is set and sportsbook oddsmakers have this fight opening line set at even at -115  for both The Natural and the Lesnar.

Kenny Florian is a slight favorite over Joe Daddy Stevenson in a lightweight title elimination fight

UFC 92 will take place on December 27 in Las Vegas as the TUF 8 coaches will square off to fight the winner of Couture  versus Lesnar fight, to determine the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira is a huge -360 betting favorite as Frank Mir is huge dog bet at +290. This is a fight the top ten pound for pound fighter should easily win on the ground. In the stand up Mir has no power and if this fight stays standing Big Nog will tear him apart. On the ground there is no contest as Nog is the best grappling heavyweight in the world.

Also on the card is the Light heavyweight tile fight between Rashad Evans and UFC light heavywieght champion Forrest Griffin. This will be two former TUF reality show winner squaring off for a UFC title as Griffin will be a slight favorite over Sugar Evans at -130

The moist anticipated fight of the night will be Quinton Jackson versus Wanderlei Silva  with Jackson a slight favorite. Our early online prediction is that Silva will beat Jackson just like he did at Pride twice with his two KO victories at PRIDE 28: High Octane and at PRIDE Final Conflict 2003

On January 17 2009 the first UFC event will make its way to Dublin, Ireland where the main event will have Rich Franklin versus Dan Henderson. Many believe that Rich Franklin is one of he most overrated fighters in MMA and we see Dangerous Dan beating Franklin up for all three rounds.

In what seems like an eternity Mauricio Shogun Rua will make his return to the UFC to fight Mark Coleman. Both fighters have a past as Mark Coleman gave Shogun his first MMA lost when he broke his elbow in a fight at PRIDE 31: Unbreakable and there is still some bad blood between the two.

Georges St Pierre gets his Black Belt

Posted on October 20th, 2008 in MMA News, UFC News by admin

Georges St Pierre can now add another accomplishment to his career and one than many of us can attain and hope to attain. GSP is no among the ranks of very few and is now the proud owner of a black belt in Brazilian Jui Jitsu.

At the Tristar martial arts academy, in Montreal, Canada UFC 170 welterweight champion and top ten pound for pound fighter in the world Gerogre St Pierre received his prestigious black belt in front of his  Jiu-Jitsu class, with around 50 participants. The UFC welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre, suspected nothing as he was surprised with the honor in a class that was bigger than usual for obvious reasons.

Bruno Fernandes promoted him to the status of black belt in Jiu-Jitsu under the Gracie Barra association. Fernandes, who has been living in Canada for the last few years, where he earned his PhD and researches cancer treatments, and thus has been teaching GSP for years, it was a great honor to fasten the black belt and say: “Welcome to the club!” “He more than deserves it. This was excellent new for the fight world,” said Fernandes.

“This was the high point in my career,” an emotional Saint-Pierre confessed, when laying out the three happiest moments of his life:

“When I received my black belt in karate, when I conquered the UFC belt, and today.”

The promotion echoed in New York and, Renzo Gracie, who has taught Jiu-Jitsu to the Canadian star in the past before his collision course with Renzo student Matt Serra, approved:

There is little doubt that St Pierre deserves a black belt. If you look at his no gi game he has beaten some great fighters with submission victories over the likes of Matt Hughes.

UFC 89 Betting Line and Odds

Posted on October 16th, 2008 in MMA Betting, UFC Odds by admin

BetCRIS has just released the full online UFC betting lines for UFC 89 Bisping vs. Leben that will take place on October 18th, 2008 in at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England. This mixed martial arts event will air live in Great Britain and Ireland on Setanta Sports and via tape delay in the United States and Canada on Spike TV.

The event will be headlined by a middleweight bout between Michael Bisping and Chris Leben and if you read our UFC prediction for this fight we recommend to bet heavily on Bisping because we have never believe Leben to be a great fighter and the fact he has not really improved on his fight game leads to a easy Bisping victory.

This one fight that we highly recommend is the Keith Jardine versus Brandon Vera fight. At +140 there should be no way Jardine is that far an underdog; especially against Vera who is still not proven himself and seems to be more hype than reality. Jardine has fought tougher and much better opponents and online sports bettors will get good value on this fight due to his fast lost to Wanderlai Silva

One of th emos tintersting matches will be Luiz Cane versus Rameau Sokoudjou. We once had Sokoudjou as a tiop ten middleweight but his poor performances have drop the stocks on Sokoudjou. Is Sokoudjou ready to become a star in MMA. Read our MMA matchup report and decide for yourself

If you want to bet on any of these fight remember that UFC 89 will take place in England so get your bets in early.

Below are the full online betting odds provided by BetCRIS which is the only online sportsbook to list the entire betting lines for all fights.
