WEC 35 Betting Odds

Posted on July 31st, 2008 in MMA Betting, UFC Betting Matchups, UFC Odds by admin

WEC 35 will be on full display this weekend and BetCRIS has just put out the only betting lines for the event that will be held on August 3rd at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas.

One of the top welterweight fighters in the world will be fighting and if you don’t know Condit he is a force despite not much limelight. The fight of the night will be Brock Larson versus Carlo Prater. At 22-2-1 Larson is like Condit and one of MMA’s best kept secret but he will be fighting a tough Carlo Prater who is 23-5-1. The MMA betting odds have Larson as a huge betting favorite at +255 and if might be worth a wager for two similar fighters.

If there is an underdog bet to be made however, Marcus Hicks +135 is a good bet to make. Hicks is 8 and 0 in the and won his last 3 WEC fights. I really don’t know why Varner is a favorite in this fight. I would lay a large chunk on Hicks to win this fight.

The MMA betting lock of the night is the 5 and 1 Xtreme Couture fighter Dave Terrel taken on 2 and 2 fighter Blas Avena. At -165 this is the best WEC betting lock. Another great bet to make is to wager on Todd Moore -205. Though the gambling lines are not as good as the Dave Terrel fight he is well worth the investment on a fight he should easily win.

For all MMA betting lines check out the online betting BetCRIS odds below.

UFC 88 Breakthrough Betting with UFC Props

Posted on July 30th, 2008 in MMA Betting, UFC Betting Matchups, UFC News, UFC Odds by admin

UFC 88 BettingThought UFC 88 Breakthrough won’t happen until September 6, 2008 at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia that has not stopped the online sportsbooks oddsmakers from putting on the online UFC betting lines for this event.

The main event has Chuck the Ice Man Liddell and former UFC light  heavyweight champion taken on Rashad Evans, the winner of the heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighter 2 reality show. Evans is coming in asa ahuge underdog even though he has wins over Hector Ramirez, Brad Imes, Sam Hoger, Stephan Bonnar, Jason Lambert, Sean Salmon, Michael Bisping and went to a draw against former light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz.

Chuck Liddell is coming off the biggest win of his life at UFC 79: Nemesis over Wanderlei Silva but before hat he was on a 2 fight losing streak. Is the Iceman back? Well the online sportsbook say that he is.

5 Dimes is the only online sports betting site that has some early online betting odds and for the Liddell fight and the betting lines for the Rich Franklin versus Matt Hamill fight. Though most online sportsbooks have these betting lines, 5 Dimes is the only sportsbook that has put out UFC 88 prop bets.

Some interesting UFC prop bets include +458 if Liddell wins by decision. If you are going by the odds makers and think Liddell will win why not make a prop bet for the Iceman to go the distance?  Betting +458 instead of -265 is a better bet if you think Liddell will win the fight but will win by decision.

If you are a real gambler you might want to try betting the fight might go a draw. Laying $100 to win +7500 might be a streak but stranger things have happened. Evans has gone the distance 6 times out of 14 fights and drew once.

Below are the 5 Dimes online betting lines for UFC 88 Breakthrough

EliteXC Smith vs Lawler 2 Betting

Posted on July 25th, 2008 in MMA Betting, UFC Odds by admin

EliteXC BettingEliteXC is capitalizing on the rematch between The Hands of Steel Scott Smith 13-4 versus Robbie Lawler 15-4-1 and on July 26th, 2008 at EliteXC: Unfinished Business the rematch will take place at the Stockton Arena in Stockton California.

The first match between the two was a no contest for an Unintentional foul to a poke in the eye by Lawler on Smith. Both fighters will once again compete for the EliteXC middleweight championship. Like the first fight Robbie Lawler will be coming into the fight the favorite at -220 at Bookmaker.com. However the online MMA betting odds still have Smith as a huge underdog at +180.

Justin Eilers will try to become the EliteXC heavyweight champion as he will face Bigfoot Brasilero Antonio Silva who at 10 and 1 is a huge betting favorite at -550. The 6′4 265 pound heavyweight is very light on his feet and is very agile for a super heavyweight. He trains at American Top Team which means his overall MMA game will be tight.

The one underdog pick sports bettors might like to wager on will be the Brian Caraway versus Wilson Reis fight. Brian Caraway is going into the fight as the underdog +120 despite being 10 and 2 with 9 submissions. He will be fighting Wilson Reis who is 4 and 0 with 23 submissions. This will be a ground battle and Caraway’s experience should prevail despite being an underdog.

The fight of the night will be Nick Thompson versus Jake Shields. Thompson is the underdog despite being on a 12 fight winning streak. If you like to gamble this might be a great dog pick to make at +280. If will be tough as he will be fighting top ten welterweight Jake Shields who has wins over Hayato Sakurai, Akira Kikuchi, Dave Menne, Ido Pariente, Renato “Charuto” Verissimo, Mike Pyle Carlos Condit, Yushin Okami, and Jeremy Jackson. He is currently on a 9 fight winning streak, finishing his last 4 opponents in the first round.

Sheilds is a three time Grapplers Quest Advance Champion, Pan American Games Jiu Jitsu Champion, Pan Am Open Advance Submission Champion, Gracie Open Superfight Champion, and finished 3rd place at the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship in 2005. He also has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by Cesar Gracie in February of 2007.

UFC 87 Betting Prop Bets

Posted on July 22nd, 2008 in MMA Betting, UFC News, UFC Odds by admin

UFC 87 BettingMost online sportsbook have betting odds for the next UFC 87 Seek and Destroy but not all sportsbook have online UFC betting props like 5 Dimes does.

The up coming UFC does have some interesting bets like MMA newcomers Brock Lesner coming into the fight as a huge favorite over mixed martial arts veteran Heath Herring. If you read the UFC handicapping betting report for this fight you might want to wager on Herring at +190.

One of the most interesting bets is the UFC prop bets is the Georges St Pierre versus Jon Fitch fight. The online props betting odds to go the distance is +400. GSP went the distance with Jon Fitch’s teammate Josh Koscheck at UFC 74: Respect. Fitch fights like Koscheck’s style and is much better so going the distance is a really good bet to make at +400. To coincide with that bet a great UFC prop would be GSP winning by decision.

If you bet on the fight going the distance why not bet on GSP to win the fight by going the distance.

If you bet $100 on the fight to go the distance at +400 and bet $100 on GSP winning the fight by 5 round decision at +601 that $200 you wagered on will net you $1001 plus your $200 back.

That’s a UFC prop betting I would make which is a better bet to make than placing a straight up bet on GSP at -310.

For all UFC prop bets check out the odds below.

Bet at 5Dimes

Georges St-Pierre -310
Jon Fitch +255

St-Pierre/Fitch goes 5 round distance +400

Fight won’t go 5 round distance -550

St-Pierre wins inside distance -202

St-Pierre wins by 5 rnd decision +601

Fitch wins inside distance +326

Fitch wins by 5 rnd decision +1207

St-Pierre/Fitch draw +7500

Fight not a draw -20000

Rob Emerson +210
Manny Gamburyan -270

Jason MacDonald +190
Demian Maia -270
Kenny Florian -155
Roger Huerta +125

Florian/Huerta goes 3 round distance +280
Fight won’t go 3 round distance -400

Heath Herring +190
Brock Lesner -250

Herring/Lesnar goes 3 round distance +400

Huge Affliction Betting Line Movement

Posted on July 19th, 2008 in MMA Betting, UFC Betting Matchups, UFC Odds by admin

As the Affliction Banned fight gets closer. Online sportsbooks betting lines for the Heavyweight Championship bout between Fedor Emelianenko versus Tim Sylvia have drastically moved

The opening on line betting lines for the fight opened with Fedor as a -400 betting favorite as almost all the online sport betting sites.

However as the fight draws nearer there has been a lot of movement on the lines as a lot of money has been placed on Tim Sylvia which has pushed the online Affliction Banned betting lines down to -320 in favor of Fedor.

Every though many consider Fedor to be the top pound for pound fighter in the world people are hearing claims that Fedor is overrated like what Dana White stated when he says he has not fought any top level competition in over 2 years.

The Fedor backlash is now pushing the betting lines down as he opened as a huge favorite.

If you want to bet on Tim Sylvia 5 Dimes the online sportsbook now has the lines set at

Fedor Emelianenko -320

Tim Sylvia +260

Bet at 5Dimes

This is the best online odds in a long time. If you want to bet on Fedor I would do so now as the lines might move higher up.

However if you think Sylvia will win you might want to wait to set if the Fedor supporters jump on this online bet

Affliction Banned vs Fight Night 14: Dana White goes the Cheap Route

Posted on July 14th, 2008 in MMA Betting, MMA News, UFC News by admin

If you wanted to put on a mixed martial arts event to rival the new Affliction organization why would you put on a crappy card? Well thats what UFC president Dana White has done with a head line fight between Anderson Silva vs James Irvin.

Are you kidding me, come on Dana White you have the money and resources to do better than that but instead he tries to cheap out and put on a crappy MMA card. If you are going to put on a free show on Spike TV, do so with gusto not some lame attempt with a MMA card with a bunch of nobodies.

Dana White should really put a dagger in the hearts of the Affliction event by actually using some money to pay the fighters and get a good card together. He is cheaping out and putting Silva in with a punching dummy. The one fight to look forward to is the Frank Edgar versus Hermes Franca fight but that’s about it.

Affliction Banned has Fedor Emelianenko, two time UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia, former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, Josh Barnett, Pedro Rizzo, Ben Rothwell, Matt Lindland Renato Sobral and Vitor Belfort.

This star studded line up has 4 top ten heavyweights in the world fighting and a number of high profile stars while the UFC is having Kevin Burns, Reese Andy, and Brodie Farber fighting so people will tune in. Also you can see all the under card fights for free for Affliction Banned at the Fight Network.

Dana White can fool novice fans and people who are mildly interested in MMA but he can not fool the real fans and hardcore MMA fans that put the UFC to where it is today.

If you really want to hurt Affliction do it right instead of being cheap and not paying for what people are worth. The UFC makes tons of money and they do not kick any of it back to the fighters and putting on a crappy show at UFC Fight Night 14 is a lame attempt to kill off competition with a pellet gun instead of a shotgun.

This all comes back to the UFC paying people for what they are worth and treating people fairly. If they did treat people fairly fighters like Josh Barnett, Matt Lindland, and Fedor would be happy to sign with the UFC. Instead they are rivaling the UFC and helping Dana off his high horse.

I really hope the UFC gets the fact that there is competition now. The last UFC cards were bad and the upcoming UFC 87 and 88 are not looking to great either. The UFC like to put 2 to 3 good fights and mix in with crappier fights with no real talent so they can cheat the pay per view audience and keep cost down. With cheaper talent instead of putting on a grat show form top to bottom like how Pride was.

Affliction Banned MMA Betting Preview

Affliction MMA Betting Handicapping Preview

AfflictionBanned Betting

Bet on Affliction at BetCRIS.com

Vitor Belfort vs  Terry Martin

Vitor Belfort is still a top MMA fighter and fighting now at middleweight might be the best thing for him in his career. His is the former UFC heavyweight tournament champion, light heavyweight champion and the current Cage Rage light heavyweight champion.

At one time Vitor was the best fighter in the world when he was under Carlson Gracie but due personal problems, management problems and taking the sport of MMA for granted Belfort dropped from the world of mixed martial arts.

But Vitor is back and has a renewed dedication to training hard and has begun training with Chute Boxe in Brazil. Belfort is a complete fighter with incredible grappling skills and striking. His striking is one of his most underestimated qualities and Belfort ever competed in a pro boxing fight and with his training at Chute Boxe he will be a very devastating striker, especially at middleweight.

Belfort has fought at a top level throughout his career with wins over Wanderlei Silva, Heath Herring at PRIDE 14 Clash of the Titans,  Randy Couture at UFC 46, Marvin Eastman at UFC 43, James Zikic, Gilbert Yvel and David “Tank” Abbott. He has also fought top level fighters like Tito Ortiz, Chuck Liddell, Dan Henderson and Alistair Overeem.

Terry Martin is a good fighter with good stand up skills but that about it. He lacks cardio and is only looking for the one punch KO. He has not fought a top level fighter and was on his way to beating Chris Leben at UFC Fight Night 11 but could not close the fight and was eventually KO’ed. He has also lost to average fighters like Jason Lambert and James Irvin and lost a decision to Marvin Eastman at UFC 81: Breaking Point while Belfort beat Eastman with a brutal KO in just over a minute.

Betting wise Belfort should be a slight betting favorite but since online odds makers sometimes miss the mark I would not be surprised if they put Martin as the betting favorite since he has been more in the North American spotlight. Whatever the case take the favorable betting lines for Belfort.

Vitor will be fighting at middleweight and will be the better striker and has better hands than Martin. Also Belfort has only been KO’ed one in his career ad that was to Randy Couture at UFC 15: Collision Course. If this fight goes to the ground it will be over quick.

Belfort is still a top level fighter and now at middleweight he is even more dangerous. I would bet a lot on Belfort for an easy victory over an average fighter with only a punchers chance and bad cardio.

Bet on Affliction at BetCRIS.com

Savant Young vs  Mark Hominick

Trenell “Savant” Young (9-6) will bet fighting hard hitting Canadian fighter Mark Hominick who trains under Shawn Tompkins and with Sam Stout at Team Tompkins Muay Thai and Submission Academy in London, Ontario. Striking wise Hominick is the much better fighter but the problem with him is that he is susceptible to submissions.

Young has fought better fighters and has an impressive victory over Takeshi Inoue recently but in the past when he has faced top level competition he loses. He has losses to Ryan Schultz, Chris Lytle, John Alessio, Jason Von Flue and the fat guy on the TIUF reality show Gabe Ruediger.

Young does have a more well rounded MMA game but Hominick striking power should overwhelm Young in this fight. One major factor is this fight wil be preparation. Young is a part time fight and has a full time job outside of MMA while Hominick trains and instructs full at a club so he is constantly surrounded by working out and training.

The Black Superman will not want to trade punches with Hominick but this fight will turning into a striking fight and Hominick is technically a better striker with much better leg kicks. Young is more powerful but will try to please the crowd and stand up and trade with Hominick and that will be his down fall.

The online betting lines will be close but I think The Black Superman might be the favorite. I would be on Mark Hominick who is a full time fighter compared to Young and is more technical.

Hominick has been working on his sprawls and take down defense with Shawn Tompkins and Young is no world beater with takedowns. I would bet on Mark Hominick for striking demonstration of the Black Superman.

Bet on Affliction at BetCRIS.com

Mike Pyle vs  JJ Ambrose

Mike Quicksand Pyle (16-5-1) is one of the best fighters you might have never heard of. He is one of Randy Couture’s best students at Xtreme Couture. He is a great wrestler with very good grappling skills. With victories over top UFC welterweight contender Jon Fitch, and Shonie Carter, Pyle has the skills ot beat and compete with top level fighters. He has loses to top level guys like Quinton Jackson, Matt Horwich and Jake Shields.

He will be fighter JJ Ambrose (8-1) who is a very good submission fighter. However, Ambrose has never fought a top level guy and Pyle is as tough as they come. Also Ambrose has never fought at a major MMA event and will not be use to the media attention and the big crowds.

Since trains with Randy Couture he will be able to nullify any submission attempts by Ambrose. Pyle has great upper body strength and once he gains top position on Ambrose he will be very hard to get out of side control or half guard. Pyle has a very good ground and pound and once Pyle gains top position it will be over quick.

In the stand up Pyle has very quick hands which he uses to set up his takedowns. If this fight stays standing Pyle will score a lot of point because he is an aggressive fighter.

The Affliction betting lines will have Pyle as a huge betting favorite. I would estimate around -250 but he is a very god fighter and worth the price to lay your money one.
