UFC 77 is fast approaching and betED.com has released betting lines for the mixed martial arts event. UFC 77: Hostile Territory, slated for Oct. 20 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, features a UFC middleweight title rematch between champion Anderson Silva and challenger Rich Franklin, as well as a heavyweight showdown between former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia and the returning Brandon Vera. betED.com
has Silva favored at -190
and Franklin the underdog at +160.
In the heavyweight bout, Vera is the favorite at -175
while Sylvia is +155. Silva is a Brazilian Muay Thai champion, and also the current Cage Rage World Middleweight champion. Formerly a competitor in PRIDE Fighting Championships, Shooto and Rumble on the Rock, Silva formed the Muay Thai Dream Team before forming a new team last year called Black House. MMAWeekly, Sherdog and Nokaut all currently rank Silva as the No. 1 middleweight in the world and fighting-mma.com has him ranked as #2 behind Dan Henderson who fights at both the light heavyweight and middleweight division. Also on the card for UFC 77 are middleweight prospects Alan “The Talent” Belcher and Kalib Starnes. A fierce competitor who has shown the ability to end fights by submission or spectacular knockout, Belcher (10-3) moved up to light heavyweight on short notice in May and submitted Sean Salmon in less than a minute. Now back at middleweight, Belcher looks to make it two in a row against Starnes (10-2-1), a well-rounded Canadian who worked with the renowned American Top Team earlier this year. Check
