Mixed martial arts have come a long way since the first UFC way back in 1993. Not only have mixed martial reached a global audience but now fans can enjoy many different types of organizations and a wide array of opportunities. For the first time in MMA history there will be 3 major events taking place for the July 19th and 20th  weekend.

The MMA clothing line Affliction will introduced their inaugural MMA show with Affliction Banned that will be chalk full of heavyweight stars. Affliction plans to capitalize on the UFC’s lack of a heavyweight division but signing some of the top heavyweight fighters in the world like former 2 time UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia, former UFC heavyweight champion and top ten fighter Josh Barnett, and the former pound for pound best MMA fighter in the world in Fedor Emelianenko. Also on the card will be former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, Ben Rothwell, Pedro "The Rock" Rizzo, Matt Lindland, Renato Sobral, Mike Whitehead, Aleksander Emelianenko, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Vitro Belfort.

The event is scheduled to take place on July 19, 2008 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The one hour undercard will be broadcast on the Fox Sports Network and on the Fight Network in Canada for free and the main fight card will be broadcast live on pay-per-view. Also appearing at the event, the heavy metal band Megadeth will be performing live.

Affliction plans to make a major dent into the UFC’s market share.

UFc Fight Night 14 bettingUFC president Dana White is not sitting back on his heels as he is counter attacking the par per view event with a live free television event on Spike TV to rival Affliction at the same time. White has put forth a MMA card that will have the current pound for pound best fighter in the world Anderson Silva fighting for the first time at light heavyweight. The event will also have a great match up between Hermes Franca versus Frank “The Answer” Edgar. Also Brandon “The Truth” Vera will be fighting.

Dana White has also announced a new fight between Jesse Taylor who was a TUF show finalist but was kicked out for violating UFC conduct riles by kicking out a limo window and harassing females at a local casino in Las Vegas. He will be fighting CB Dolloway who replaced Taylor in the TUF final.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) free event will broadcast for free on cable television on July 19, 2008 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Not only will there be great action in North American but the final round to determine the Dream lightweight Grand Prix champion will be crowned at Dream.5 in Japan. For former Pride FC diehards there are some great MMA match ups for the die hard MMA fans like Joachim Hellboy Hansen versus Kultar Black Mamba Gill.

The semi finals for the lightweight crown which includes Shinya Aoki/Caol Uno vs. Eddie Alvarez/Tatsuya Kawajiri will be crowned for this event. Also top pound for pound fighter Kid Yamamoto will be fighting as well as top middleweight Yoshihiro Akiyama.

Some of the best lightweights in the world will be showcased in Japan. The event is scheduled to take place on July 21, 2008 and will host the final round of the promotion's Lightweight tournament. However North Ameircan fans can watch this event live which will be late July 20 in North America.
