Look out because the UFC just signed a bad ass to the already stacked Light heavyweight division. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (4-1) is a beast. He has so much upper body strength and he has lighting quick hands. His last two fight he beat Ricardo Arona with a KO punch at PRIDE 34 - Kamikaze and he beat Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in 23 second with a vicious left hook. Sokoudjou is the real deal and even though Lyoto Machida (11-0) is most experienced Sokoudjou is just an all round beast.
If you think Sokoudjou is just a stand up fighter guess again. Hewas the 2001 US Open Judo champion and currently trains with Team Quest where he is acting as a kickboxing and MMA instructor. He has been groomed to fight and by helped along the way by Matt Lindland, Matt Hume, Dan Henderson and Randy Couture. Many regard him to be the next great fighter in the MMA. Sokoudjou is regarded as an extremely taxing training partner, having blown out the knees of both Kit Cope and Frank Shamrock in preparation for their upcoming fights.
Don’t get me wrong Lyoto Machida is a very good fighter with wins over Stephan Bonnar, Rich Franklin, Michael McDonald, B.J. Penn, Vernon White, Sam Hoger at UFC 67: All or Nothing, David Heath at UFC 70: Nations Collide and Kazuhiro Nakamura at UFC 76: Knockout. He has fought tough guys before but I feel that Sokoudjou has that pure brute force and aggressiveness to throw of Machida. He currently fights out of Black House with such fighters as UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva, former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort, and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and he technically a better striker but not as powerful. If you look at Machida 11 fight seven of them have come by decision which mean he is not a finisher like his fellow Black House teammates.
Bottom Line: Machida is more experienced and has fought tough opponents and has been in the UFC octagon before but you can not look past the raw pure talent of Sokoudjou. He is so strong and with his judo background he will be able to flip Machida for a ground and pound victory. Look out MMA fans because Sokoudjou is coming to the UFC and will make a statement
Take Sokoudjou to win in the second round by TKO on strikes due to a vicious ground and pound.
