Karo Parisyan vs. Ryo Chonan
Parisyan
Bet this MMA UFC fight at Bookmaker.com
The welterweight UFC bout between Karo “the Heat" Parisyan (17-4) and Ryo “The Shark” Choan (14-7) will be the match of the night. Both of these fighters love to let it all out in the ring and they always put on great fights for the fans. Parisyan feels he has been slighted by the UFC and wants a title shot at the welterweight belt. He felt like he should have been on the coach in this season’s The Ultimate Fighter reality show TUF instead of Matt Hughes and fight for the title after the show. Parisyan has always relied on his pure judo and fighting skills and his recent refocus to training and cardio combined with something to prove makes him a very determined and dangerous fighter for anyone at 170.
Ryo Chonan is a sick fighter and the DEEP Middleweight Champion. He defeated Ryuta Sakurai to retain the Middleweight Championship in the DEEP MMA organiztion. He has also beat UFC middleweight champion Anderson with a flying inverted heel hook that is voted as one of the best all time submissions in a MMA fight. Ryo Chonan is a very tough fighter, but he lacks stand up, and Parisyan is at the top of his game right now.
Chonan the Barbarian is currently a part of the Team Quest MMA fight team, along with former Pride Fighting Championships Middleweight and Welterweight Champion Dan Henderson, Matt Lindland, Jason "Mayhem" Miller, and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. He will have insight on Parisyan because Karo has been training with Randy Couture for his previous fights. Ryo had beaten some of the best fighters in the world like Ryuta Sakurai, Anderson Silva, Nino 'Elvis' Schembri, Roan Carneiro, Joey Villasenor and Carlos Newton. Despite great matches, when he fights upper echelon fighters he loses like Paulo Filho, Dan Henderson, Ricardo Almeida and Phil Baroni. Ryo will fight in the UFC in the Welterweight division and he normally walks around at 170 and will not have to cut weight. He will enter the octagon a heavier and more powerful puncher.
Parisyan has superior judo throws and he really wants to make a statement for a UFC welterweight title shot. Look for a hard fought battle with The Heat winning by decision. Parisyan has corrected his training and work ethic and his judo and ground game will outmatch Ryo's game. Though Ryo might have the better stand up game he will not have enough power to KO Parisyan who has fought great strikers like Josh Burkman and Nick Diaz. Chonan's ground game is good, but again, Parisyan has fought some great grapplers like Diego Sanchez, Georges St. Pierre, and Sean Sherk.
Bottom Line: With recent failures of Japanese fighters un able to adapt to the UFC octagon or adapt to the new rules you have to go with Parisyan in this fight. He is bigger stronger and has more experience in the UFC. He has rededicated his life to training hard and taking fighter seriously and he wants to prove to the world he is the fighter everyone has always claimed him to be. That can’t be good for a first time UFC fighter in Chonan. Chonan is a great fighter but at this time he is not on the same level as The Heat, but this won’t be a cake walk for him as Chonan pulls off amazing submission leg lock attempts and can take a punch. He can go toe to toe with any fighter in the world and this fight will be a great one. Don't let that highlight clip of Chonan beating Silva fool you, he was getting killed in that fight prior to the inverted heel hook.
Take Parisyan in a the 3 round decision
