You are going to think I’m crazy but Keith Jardine the Dean of Mean (12-3-1) is going to beat Chuck the Iceman Liddell (20-4) and beat him badly. I have always said that Chuck Liddell is a one dimensional fighter. He is a very heavy puncher, has great take down defense and he will beat people that do not throw as hard as him but when facing an equally heavy puncher he loses.

Chuck Liddell is not a good fighter, he is not even a good kick boxer, he sucks at wrestling and he has no ground skills. Why do people like him? Well he knocks people out and for fans that’s all they want. Well guess what, the UFC is bringing straight up killers that will just dummy Chuck Liddell if he steps in the ring with them. He will not beat Shogun, he will not beat Quinton Rampage Jackson, he will not beat Dan Hollywood Henderson, he will not beat Wanderlei the Axe Murderer Silva and he will not even beat Houston Alexander. Why? The reason is that Chuck will not beat any of these MMA fighters because they are more powerful strikers that he is. Keith Jardine is a heavyweight that cuts weight down to light heavyweight and he is a far better striker than Liddell.

Liddell has faced a lot of weaker strikers in the Octagon have been like Randy Couture (Old version of Randy years ago), Titio Ortiz, Vitor Belfour, Guy Mezger, Jeremy Horn, Bablau Sobral, Vernon White and the list goes on. Chuck has had trouble with well rounded fighters like Amar Suloev, and Murilo Bustamante who in my opinion if they were heavy punchers would have killed Chuck. The new light heavyweight crop coming into the UFC is skilled and can throw punches that will overwhelm Liddell.

Keith Jardine has the striking ability and power to KO Chuck and he will use his size and underestimated grappling ability to impose his will on the Iceman. After UFC 76, the Iceman will be exposed for his inability to adapt to fighters (unlike how Couture has) and he will show that wild punches only get you so far without improving your other fighting skills. Jardine has hard kicks and punches and has the grappling background from the Greg Jackson camp to throw Chuck off his game.

Bottom Line: Chuck does not have the tools to compete in the UFC. He is only a heavy puncher but when facing other heavy punchers he loses and loses bad. Liddell is on the tale end of his career and all the partying (do I have to include that video clip of Chuck all high again) and fame has diminished his fighting abilities. He says he wants to fight Silvia or Shogun; well good luck getting past Jardine as he will KO Liddell in UFC 76. High leg kick to the head by Jardine, he will knock Liddell’s Mohawk to thte other side of his head after this fight.

There is not one area that Liddell has over Jardine on paper so lay your UFC 76 bets on Jardine for a good payout.
