When Rich Franklin won the UFC middleweight people though he was unbeatable but if you closely look at the middle division it is very weak. Franklin really has not fought anyone very good. He has beaten David Loiseau who just has no will to fight anymore after his performance at Elite XC, Nathan Quarry (who cares), Evan Tanner an ok fighter, and an aging Jorge Rivera. Once Anderson Silva (a person will talent) came into the middle weight division he exposed to everyone how Franklin is not as good as he seems. For all the fight at UFC 68: Uprising this is the one to pick for an underdog to win some money.

Anderson Silvia put a beating on Franklin that broke he nose and cheek bone and I don’t know he will be ready for a person like Jason MacDonald (18 – 7) MacDonald is no slouch and he should be able to take shoot in and take Franklin to the ground. Macdonald is a very big for a 185 pound fighter and compared to Franklin he has size and strengthen on him, so taking him down should be no problem. MacDonald is on a 6 fight winning streak and has submitted 5 out of his last 6 opponents.

Rich will still have an advantage in the standup but fighting a bigger person like MacDonald will pose a tough timer for Franklin. The real question is how he responds to such a horrible loss where he was a punching bag for Silvia.

Bottom Line: each fighter is going in different direction and Franklin took a stronger more skill opponent this time. He took a safe fight in his return so he won’t get his chicklets knocked out but this will backfire

MacDonald gives Franklin a ground lesson with a second round triangle choke

Renato "Babalu" Sobral looks to climb back into the UFC ring and hopefully make charge back into the light heavy division against Jason Lambert. Lambert's record (22-6) was looking pretty strong at 5-0 in the UFC with wins over Brandon Lee Hinkle and Terry Martin. He has fought and beat Rob MacDonald, Marvin Eastman, and Travis Wiuff who are very tough opponents. The losses he does have have been way of TKO to Rasheed Even, Wesley Correira and Tim Sylvia. The last two are true heavy weight and Lambert has now come down form the heavyweight division to the light heavyweight division.

Jason will have a definite strength with heavy hands and strong upper body and technique on the ground. Sobral has fought some of the best in the world like Chuck Liddell the UFC light heavy weight champ, Fedor Emelianenko the Pride heavy weight champ (by decision), and the monster Kevin Randelman who was the #2 UFC light heavy weight contender at that time. The one deciding factor I all those fights is that Sorbal lost and all of those fighters had heavier hands and were much stronger than him.

Bottom Line: At this point in time, Lambert is the hungrier fighter and is on the cusp making it to the upper level of fighters.

The hungrier man wins. Lambert wins by first round KO
