Diego Sanchez (16-0) is the real deal. Besides Matt Hughes in the Welterweight division Diego is probably the top contender to fight Georges St Pierre for the UFC Welterweight title (if he beats Joe Riggs). Diego is not the type of person to over look fights. He is one of the most focused fighters in the world today.

He has beyond excellent ground skills, great stand up and take down defense and heavy hands. Mark my words he will be champion one day. There is no weakness in Diego's fighting game as his energy level and never say die attitude puts him above most fighter. Take for example, the fight with Karo Parisyan where the match was even up until the third round where Diego out it into another gear.

Joe Riggs (28-5) is a powerhouse but his lack of cardio and ground skills makes him susceptible to long g fights and submissions as his last 3 loses came by submission. Riggs does have the skills on the ground to submit opponents when they are equal to or lesser skilled then him but he hasn’t been able to push past the middle level contenders to that upper echelon of fighters. Diego is not in that upper echelon status yet but will break through with a win over Riggs.

Karo Parisyan (15-4) is an elite fighter with the smoothest judo skills out of all the UFC fighters in the ring today. Right now he is on the cusp of becoming a top Welterweight contender with the likes of Georges St Pierre, Matt Hughes and Diego Sanchez. At this moment he is lumped with Nick Diaz and right between the elite top fighters and way above the lesser fighters. Karo knows that with an impressive win he will be back in the title hunt.

Drew Ficketts (27-4) is one of those journeymen fighters have not been able to raise their level of fighting when giving the chance to fight better opponents. He has heavy hands and can submit opponents but facing a world class judo submission expert like Karo will be very tough. Lately, Ficketts has fought reality shows fighters like Kurt Pellegrino, Josh Burkman, Josh Koscheck and Josh Neer who may be good personalities for TV are not on the same level as real fighters.

The knock on Parisyan is that he lacks cardio and has nothing left in the third round like in his fight versus Diego Sanchez where by the end of the round his hands were down and he was gasping for air. Karo now trains extensively with Team Punishment and Tito Ortiz up in Big Bear Mountain. The Ortiz camp is known for being well prepared and in tip top shape so Parisyan will enter the ring tonight with more focus.
