Joe Stevenson tries to fight at a higher weight class and he was unsuccessful. Now that he has dropped down to the UFC lightweight division this weight division is perfectly suited for his body frame. He will be fighting Melvin Guillard who is no joke. Melvin is very quick and his skills on the ground as very good but he will be fighting a bigger framed person who has better skills on the ground. Melvin’s best bet is to keep the fight standing up and to weave in an out with punches. However, Guillard is not known for his punching ability and Stevenson is very good at closely in opponents and shooting in for a single leg takedown. Once the fight hits the ground Stevenson will use his superior grappling skills and heavier weight to control Guillard.

Bottom Line: Stevenson will be more tenacious and attack his opponent because he will not fear getting hit hard with a punch that will knock him out
