Wanderlei Silva will have the inside track as he is the heavy and more polished striker of the two. Jardine throws awkward punches from all different angles which was effective against a fight like Chuck Liddell who also throw from odd angles but against Silva his striking will be nullified since Wand is a straight forward striker that will stays and throw punches straight up the middle. Put it this way, the quickest distance between two points is a straight line. If Silva throws straight and Jardine throws looping punches Silva will connect first. Silva has a more polished striking and I think this will turn into a kick boxing match and Silva is a more technical kick boxer with a background din Muay Tai kickboxing. Jardine is a counter puncher and counter fighter and against a pressing aggressive fighter he has difficulties like in his loss to Houston Alexander. Wanderlei Silva is too experience a fighter and Jardine does not have the overwhelming power and skill to hurt Silva who has been hit by some of the best in the business like Cro Cop, Chuck Liddell, Dan Henderson, Mark Hunt, and Quinton Jackson. Grappling wise Silva has beaten some great ground fighters like Ricardo Arona, Hidehiko Yoshida, and Kazushi Sakuraba. The early UFC betting lines have Silva as a +165 at BetUS.com with Jardine a +135. Silva should beat Jardine with superior striking so placing this UFC bet early at most online sportsbooks is safe bet because the online betting lines should more in favor of Silva and they lines might hit -180 or -200 by the time the fight draws nearer. Bottom Line: Silva needs this fight more and losing 4 in a row might mean his career is done. Fighting Jardine is a perfect fight for Silva as he is quicker and a better technical striker that Jardine is. Silva will be able to press the action in this fight and be able to corner Jardine against the UFC octagon cage where he will be able to gain the clinch and start using his knees. Jardine’s game plan will to be to take Silva down for a ground and pound but Silva has very underestimated grappling skills. Jardine will not be able to hold Silva down as he will be able to get out of Jardine’s ground and pound. This will be a standup contest whether Jardine wants it or not. Now that Silva has the proper training under Randy Couture and Xtreme Couture his training and preparation will be top notch. I don’t think Jardine has the striking that will overwhelm Wanderlei as Silva spars with some of the best strikers in the world.
