UFC middleweight title fight: Michael Bisping (-330) vs. Charles McCarthy (+260)

Michael “The Count” Bisping (15-1) should really be 14 and 2 after the judges ruled in his favor against Matt Hamill and his fight with Rashad Evans at UFC 78: Validation was a joke to watch as he lost a split decision 29-28 29-28 28-29 in favor of Evans. Bisping needs to put on a good show and provide the fans with some exciting fights. Moving down to the 185 pound weight class will make Bisping the bigger body as he will be able to impose his weight and power. Now that Bisping has moved down to the middleweight division he will be able to be a force in the division.

Charles “Chainsaw” McCarthy (10-4) or Captain Miserable as he was known on the TUF reality show will have a tough time with Bisping who will overwhelm him in the stand up with his superior stand up and kick boxing skills. McCarthy has very goods grappling skills but his problem has always been the stand up game. His grappling is good but not so good that it will overwhelm Bisping. And with Bisping coming down a division his size will make it harder for McCarthy to submit him.

Bisping has way more experience and is the former Cage Warriors Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion, and former Cage Rage light heavyweight champion. He is also the TUF reality show winner becoming the second light heavyweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter television series. Bisping strengths are his kickboxing skills but his grappling skills are very good as well. He has the capability to submit people but he would rather knockout people first.

The knock on Charles McCarthy is that he does not a train hard and does not practice to becoem a weel rounded mixed martial arts fighter. Even though he is part of the best MMA camp in American Top Team he does not regularly train with the core team as he is currently running his ATT academy in the Boca/Delray area.

Bisping will dominate this fight. Even though he is naturally left-handed, he fights right-handed and can switch from south paw to regular stance. McCarthy's stand up is pretty bad and he looks awkward at best. He always has his hands down and head leaning forward which means he will be a sitting target for Bisping's strikes.

Bottom Line: With Bisping moving down a weight class he will have a lot of power and has so much striking ability that will pressure the unsure McCarthy. I don’t see McCarthy winning this middleweight fight and as a UFC bettor I would have to lay a lot of money just to win a little. But this is a for sure thing so betting 330 to win a 100 is a very safe bet to make. If you have the funds why not make a hundred dollars as I don’t see anyway McCarthy can submit him and there is no way he can out strike the superior stand up fighter.

Bisping wins by first round knock out
