Wilson Gouveia vs. Jason Lambert
Bet this MMA UFC fight at Bookmaker.com
This UFC Light Heavyweight bout has Wilson Gouveia (9-4) against Jason “The Punisher” Lambert (23-6). Gouveia has not been known for his work ethic in the past but since he started at American Top Team he has worked real hard in the gym to match the talent he possesses. He has great Brazilian jujitsu skills and since working hard with ATT and especially Denis Kang he has tightened up his game.
Lambert trains at the North County Fight Club which does not have the talent that ATT has and when training for a fight you need top level training partners. Gouveia trains with Kang, Din Dinyero Thomas, Marcus Maximus Aurelio, Jeff Snowman Monson, Thiago Pitbull Alves, Gesias JZ Cavalcante, Mario "Big Hurt" Rinaldi, Antonio Pezao Silva, Marcelo Garcia and Graison Tibau Alves. If Gouveia is taking shots from Alves, Rinaldi and Silva he will not be overpowered by Lambert’s striking.
Lambert is an underrated fighter with notable wins over Branden Lee Hinkle, Terry Martin, Rob MacDonald, Travis Wiuff, and Marvin Eastman. He has fought and lost to fighters like Wesley Correira, Tim Sylvia, Marco Ruas, Chael Sonnen and Rashad Evans at UFC 63 - Hughes vs Penn which shows that when he steps up to higher level competition he loses. Not saying Gouveia is on the same level as some of those fighters but Gouveia is a very underrated fighter that will pose a lot of problems for Lambert.
The Punisher will come into this fight as the favorite but I like Gouveia’s size and strength to shoot in and take Lambert down and submit him. Lambert has fought and beaten some great BJJ fighters like Renato Sobral at UFC 68 – Uprising but Gouveia is a bigger body and can impose his size along with his jujitsu skills. The difference in this fight is that Gouveia has a bigger frame and has the strength to take Lambert down.
At this point in their careers I like to take the underdog in this fight as Lambert does not have the techmical grappling skills Gouveia has and with his attention to the stand up game he will be able to deflect Lambert’s pressing attacks and go in for a shoot. On the ground it is a different story and Gouveia is all-world.
Bottom Line: Lambert has better stand up skills but as a UFC bettor I like Gouveia at this point in their MMA careers. If this was 2 years ago, Lambert would have rolled through him but now Gouveia will use his better ground skills to take Lambert to the ground and submit him.
Take the underdog in this UFC bet with a second round submission by rear naked choke
