Dream.3 - Lightweight Grand Prix Second Round

Dreams Fight Results and Recap
Dreams Mixed Martial Arts Betting Review:

Eddie Alvarez vs Joachim HansenDream.3 was a great night with many surprises of the night; most notably the huge upset victory by Mitsuhiro Ishida over The Crusher Mitsuhiro Ishida who was a pre tournament favorite by most online sports betting sites. Uno will be joined in the Dream lightweight grand prix semifinals by Eddie Alvarez and Tatsuya Kawajiri with victories as well. The final semi final match will be set after Shinya Aoki fights Katsuhiko Nagata.

In the first round Uno dominated the stand up at the start as he seemed to feed off the punches and started to take over the stand up with uppercuts and jabs that prompted a cut on Ishida that prompted a doctor's check. But once Ishida was able to take Uno to the ground his superior wresting and power took over the first round. Ishida almost secured an armbar by using a counter to a kimura. Uno got out and continued to hold the standup advantage until Ishida took him down again to close out the round. But the end of the first round Ishida again scored a takedown.

At the start of the second round Uno quickly used a kimura on his opponent's grip to escape and land in mount. From there Uno sunk in a slick rear-naked choke without his hooks for the tap at 1:39 in the second. Uno was a +215 underdog at Bookmaker.

The second upset of the night was former Bodog Fight Champion Eddie Alvarez defeating top ten lightweight Joachim Hansen by unanimous decision. Alvarez used his striking power and strength to overwhelm Hansen. Hansen took his man down with a throw from a kimura and turned it into an armbar. Hansen had the armbar fully extended for a moment, but Alvarez completed another escape. Hansen was unable to finish the submission and Alvarez was able to dominate the Norwegian with effective stand up striking. All three judges awarded the win to Alvarez who now emerges as a top lightweight fighter in the world.

EliteXC fighter Nick Diaz came into Japan on short notice and dominated Katsuya Inoue with brutal striking and was able to finish the fighter off early in the first round as the corner had to throw in the towel. Also Jason Mayhem Miller and Melvin Manhoef both used their striking ability to easily beat their opponents.

After the second round Eddie Alvarex looks to be the dark horse that might take it all. He is the strongest fighter and is technically the soundest striking left in the field. Should Shinya Aoki win his fight against Katsuhiko Nagata he will be the front runner to win it all.

The next Dream events will the second round of the middleweight tournament June at the Yokohama Arena for Dream.4.
