Born and raised in Ohio,which is where I found my addiction for fighting. Ohio is a fighting state, no matter where you are. Boxing, MMA and wrestling are enormous sports even down the rural country roads. MMA has exploded into mainstream America where it has quickly become the center of many business ventures. I have been following mixed martial arts since the beginning and all of these years later I have fallen in love with it.

I have always wanted to share my thoughts and philosophy about sports and other interests. I am also currently writing for other sites as well, but it is with Fighting-MMA.com that I can share my greatest passion. I watch as many fights as humanly possible, either live in person or on pay-per view. The process of always trying to break down each fighters ability and skill levels, dream up the perfect match up and think of any other possibility the MMA world can expand is something that I truly enjoy.

I have met and trained with many professional fighters in different fighting styles including MMA. Since 2007 I have been involved in the promotions of a few Pro/Ammy MMA fighting organizations. I have trained in Boxing, BJJ, Wrestling, Thai Boxing, Krav Maga, Taikwendo and Judo. I have sat ring-side at numerous fights and have been a cornerman on a few occasions. I also taught many self defense courses as well as kick-boxing classes.

Davey Thompkins

Davey was first introduced to Mixed Martial Arts at the tender age of 6 years old when his step-mother, a martial arts teacher herself, talked about a show on t.v. that was "completely barbaric". Interested only in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers, Davey begged his dad to watch it, and the rest is history. Since then, Davey has put together 19 total years of martial art training under his belt, including a black belt in the art his step-mother taught, 7 years in Muay Thai and countless seminars on the fighting AND judging of MMA. With so many newcomers to this wonderful sport, Davey hopes are to usher in this tidal wave of soon-to-be fans with rich insight of past events and strong opinions on the ones to come.

Stan Leung

Stan has been with mixed martial arts since day 1. From the very first UFC to Royce Gracie versus Sakuraba at PRIDE Grand Prix 2000 Finals to Georges St Pierre’s wins over Matt Hughes, Stan has followed every MMA events, organization and fighter since it’s inception.

Stan has a background is sports writing and sports handicapping with a number of articles and caps with various websites. With an extensive knowledge of mixed martial arts combined with sports handicapping, Mr. Leung’s knowledge in the world of MMA area is second to none.

Stan also trains in Brazilian Jujitsu with Marcus Soares, who was Carlson Gracie’s number one student with a 7th degree black belt from the legendary Brazilian jujitsu fighter. When it comes almost every aspect of MMA, Mr. Leung is one of the foremost experts.

Wayne Squibbs

Wayne has trained in boxing, karate and kickboxing. In the ring, he fought like Mike Tyson. Not the early Tyson, but the latter - he gassed in every bout, and invariably ended up hands-low, walking backward, while his opponent landed enthusiastic punches to his face.

"It was worse if they had a reach advantage," Wayne explains. "I quite often thought I was out of range, but then a big hook would knock me sideways, usually into the path of a follow-up haymaker."

And that was just in sparring.

Naturally, these days, he puts his energy elsewhere. His focus is on writing and he's a published author of short fiction and articles. Primarily an aspiring novelist (humor and mainstream genres), he studies both the storytelling and prose polishing aspects of the craft with real dedication.

After winning an MMA writing competition, he started producing fight previews, profiles, and articles under contract. "It just sort of fell into my lap," he says. "I've been following MMA since the first UFC and liked the idea of combining two passions. I'm an intelligent observer who also knows what it's like in the ring, and I can string together some nice sentences. My pre-fight analyses are very accurate, and I hope enjoyable to read."

Highest martial arts achievement: 3rd in a Karate tournament.
Proudest sports bet: pooled money with friends for a bigger stake, then backed Holyfield to beat Tyson in their first meeting.

CJ Taylor

CJ is a 22 year old MMA fanatic who graduated in 2009, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Professional Writing from York University. Like most writing students, he now works full-time in a completely unrelated field, but plans to become a full-time MMA journalist some day. After eight years of training in Sport Jiu Jitsu he currently holds a blue belt and trains three times a week.

CJ presently resides in Ontario, Canada which unfortunately still does not allow proper MMA tournaments such as the UFC.

Jake Thompson

I started out around six years ago as a sports gambling and fantasy sports writer for such websites as fantasybaseball.com, lifesabet.com, theonlinewire.com, therx.com, fantasyfootballjungle.com, and gogamble.com.  At the time, I was more of a casual fan of MMA than the hardcore addict I am today until I moved in with a buddy of mine who help run Team Hardcore, a local MMA gym in Boise. 

It was at that point I realized my love for MMA and fighting sports and began studying styles, matchups, moves, and everything related to the sport of MMA.  I've been picking winners for the past two years now and have done quite well with the highlight of my betting career being on the Pride event where I had Diaz over Gomi, Henderson over Silva, and Trigg over Misaki.  Ever since then I've been breaking down every fight card in great detail and making intelligent decisions on who I think will win, and how that relates to the Vegas line for gambling purposes.  I hope to continue the great run of success I've had and hope all the viewers of fighting-mma.com can join me in victory.
