Featherweight bout:  Norifumi Yamamoto vs.  Federico Lopez

Kid YamamotoNorifumi Yamamoto was one considered one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world.

Yamamoto has struggled of late to find the kind of form that made him a permanent fixture in the top-ten rankings, losing both of his recent fights to Joe Warren and Masanori Kanehara. Prior to that he’d posted a fourteen fight winning streak, ten of which came via knockout.

Lopez is also looking to rebound from back-to-back losses after opening his career with four consecutive wins. His losses came at the hands of Greg Guzman via decision and Chuck Mady via TKO.

This is a perfect fight for Yamamoto to get back on the winning track. Lopez has decent power but is a wrestler which is perfect for Yamamoto. Yamamoto can set up his takedowns and fight his fight. The problem with Yamamoto’s recent fight is that he fights bigger fighters and fighting Lopez he finally gets a fighter his size.

Look for Yamamoto to use his quick strikes to set up the takedown for a ground and pound victory. The online betting lines might be too steep to bet on this one so I would stay clear from this bet though.

Middleweight bout:  Kazushi Sakuraba vs.  Ralek Gracie

Kazushi SakurabaYou can’t bet against the Gracie Hunter. He just beats Gracie’s no matter how old and broken he is these days. Even though Ralek Gracie is a Gracie he is not as feared or talented as his uncles or other relatives under the Gracie name.

First, Ralek is the son of Rorion Gracie who is basically the biggest whore in the family. Rorion is more concerned about money than training these days. Rorion wants to make money on the Gracie name and even sued his cousin Carley Gracie for using the term Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

Rorion and his sons even set up a website to sell jiu-jitsu moves for money. The family is more about money than becoming a better fighter.

Sakuraba has already beat most of the Gracie family and even at age 40 I don’t see Ralek being able to sub Sakuraba. Sakuraba has better striking and will hurt Relek who will want to pull guard and go to the ground.

Relek is a big fighter and usually fights in the heavyweight division so cutting weight to make the middleweight division might take a toll on him.

If Royce, Renzo, Ryan and Royler could to finish Sakuraba what makes you think Relek will be able to.

Relek will come to this fight overweight and out of shape and will gas. After 5 minutes Sakuraba will take over the fight. He might not be able to sub the bigger Gracie fight but he will score points with strikes and speed; even at age 40.

Sakuraba may be old but he has experience with fighting some of the best fighters in the world for over a decade. Relek is new to MMA and does not have the skill or knowledge to put the Gracie Hunter away.

Just on principle alone, you have to bet on Sakuraba.

Featherweight bout:  Yoshiro Maeda vs.  Kenji Osawa

Yoshiro MaedaYoshiro Maeda just has more experience as he has fought in Pancrase, DEEP, Pride, WEC and DREAM. He has fought top level guys all over the world and even with loses to Miguel Torres and Rani Yahya, those loses only helped him become a better fighter.

Osawa has 6 loses in his last 12 fights and he is not as powerful or overwhelming a fighter. In his last 8 fights he has 7 of them come by decision which means he is not a fighter that puts people away.

Maeda has more power and will overwhelm Osawa with his strikes.

Bet heavily on Maeda for a knockout victory.

Welterweight bout:  Nick Diaz vs.  Hayato Sakurai

Nick DiazNick Diaz is just too big for Hayato Sakurai. Yes Hayato Sakurai is one of the best fighters of all time but he does not do very well versus bigger, heavier punches. Sakurai was KO’ed by Marius Zaromskis and Diaz put Zaromskis with ease with a KO in their fight.

As good as Sakurai has been in the past he is getting too old it fight anymore. Diaz is bigger, stronger and has more skills on the ground.

He is going to completely dominate this fight. He will stay on the outside and hit Sakurai with his jabs and his long reach. Sakurai won’t be able to close the distance and land any punches on the much taller and longer limbed fighter.

Nick Diaz is going to win this fight wherever he wants. If he doesn’t KO Sakurai he will take him to the ground and submit him. Diaz is a high level black belt in BJJ and Sakurai does not do well against high level grapplers.

Sakurai is a well rounded fighter and can sub and KO guys but he has to do so against fighters his own size. Diaz is too big and skilled for Sakurai who will not be able to close the distance to land strikes and not skilled enough on the ground to sub Diaz who has never been subbed in his career.

The betting lines might be close in this fight; I would lay everything I had in my sportsbook account on a Diaz victory.

Featherweight bout:  Joachim Hansen vs.  Hiroyuki Takaya

Joachim HansenHiroyuki Takaya has a weak chin and most of his loses have come by KO. Joachim Hansen is one of the best fighters in the division and he is a very good pressure fighter that can fight anywhere.

He has powerful strikes and can grapple with anyone. He has fought the best fighters in the world and he won't have any problem with Takaya. Takaya has had a good run in the Dream Featherweight Grand Prix where he made it to the finals. However, I don’t see any way Takaya will able to beat Hansen.

Hansen will overwhelm him with powerful strikes and kicks and he will be able to hit the weak chin for a KO victory

I would be a lot on this fight for a Hansen victory.

Featherweight bout:  Hideo Tokoro vs.  Akiyo Nishiura

Akiyo NishiuraThis will be a boring fight. Hideo Tokoro is a game fighter and fights anywhere anytime but he doesn’t have that much skill. Akiyo Nishiura is quicker and faster but does not have the power or grappling to put away fighters.

But Nishiura has never been KO’ed or submitted. He is a decision fighter and this fight will go to a decision.

Nishiura will win this fight by being more aggressive and landing the jabs and getting the takedown points. Hideo Tokoro is just an inconsistent fighter. He has 46 MMA fights but he has lost 4 out of his last 6 fights.

Bet on Akiyo Nishiura to win this fight but being more aggressive and quick.

Featherweight bout:  Kazuyuki Miyata vs.  Takafumi Otsuka

Kazuyuki Miyata Takafumi Otsuka has better record but Kazuyuki Miyata has lost to top level guys like Royler Gracie, Genki Sudo, Norifumi Yamamoto, Vitor Ribeiro, Joachim Hansen and Luiz Firmino.

Because Miyata has a poor MMA record means the MMA betting lines will be close but I would bet on Kazuyuki Miyata since he has fought better competition and is a heavier striker.

Takafumi Otsuka is not a very heavy puncher and most of his fights go to decision. He does not have the grappling and strikes to hurt Miyata.

Look for Miyata to KO Takafumi Otsuka in the second round.
