Hong Man Choi vs. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic

Does Cro Cop still have it to be a MMA fighter? Can he handle the height of the huge 7 foot 2 Hong Man Choi? Does Cro Cop have the ability to land his patented high leg kick on a 7 footer fighter?. Well I don’t think he can’t hit Choi’s head but he will be able to beat the boarder line freak show fighter.

Choi is a good kick boxer but his MMA record is only 2 and 1 and he does not have an established ground game. His K1 kickboxing record is not that great either with a 12 and 5 record. He has lost to most of the top K1 fighters already like Ray Sefo, Badr Hari, Jerome Le Banner, Mighty Mo and Remy Bonjasky.

Kick boxing wise Cro Cop is a better fighter. He has power and way better lower leg kicks and mobility. He will be able to weave in and out and avoid Choi’s legs. He will be able to avoid his kicks and punches because at 7 foot 2, Choi has little lateral movement. Cro Cop has beaten some of the fighters the Choi has lost to in K1 like Jerome Le Banner and Remy Bonjasky.

This is a MMA fight and Crop Cop is a much better fighter. As time passes in the fight, Choi will get tired and Cro Cop will be able to land punches and be able to take him to the ground. Surprisingly, Cro Cop will dominate this fight on the ground. With over 32 pro MMA fights, Cro Cop will still have some tricks up his sleeve. He will eventually exhaust Choi and collect the victory. The online betting lines for this fight might be close so bet on a lot for a Cro Cop victory to get back on track in MMA.

Mark Hunt vs. Jerome Le Banner

Mark HuntThe battle of two of the best strikers in the world will square off in a MMA fight. Jerome Le Banner is the better striker but does he have what it takes to KO the hard head of Mark Hunt. Hunt is actually a better MMA fighter and at 5 wins and 4 loses he has lost to some of the top fighters in MMA like Alistair Overeem, Fedor Emelianenko, Josh Barnett and Hidehiko Yoshida. All of those loses came by submission and there is no way Jerome Le Banner will be able to submit Hunt. In MMA Jerome Le Banner does not have the experience and I see Hunt being able to take Le Banner down on the ground and keep top control.

Betting wise this will be the most exciting fight of the night and Hunt will win this fight becaue he has more mixed martial arts experience but this is a MMA bet you might want to lay off on. Both men can knock each other out at any time and the best bet is a MMA prop bet for this fight to end my KO.

Mighty Mo vs.  Semmy Schilt

Semmy Schilt Mighty Mo is a huge American Samoan kickboxer who can hit like a ton but he has lost his last 6 out of 7 as. He will be fighting Semmy Schilt who he already lost to in a K1 fight at the K-1 World GP 2007 in Amsterdam. The problem with Mighty Mo is that he can not last long in a fight due to bad cardio and Semmy Schilt is a much better kick boxer. In kickboxing Schilt is the

2008 current K-1 Super Heavyweight Champion
2007 K-1 World GP Champion
2007 K-1 Super Heavyweight Champion
2006 K-1 World GP Champion
2005 K-1 World GP Champion
2005 K-1 World GP in Paris Champion

Even though this is a MMA fight both fighters will keep this fight standing but if this does turn into a MMA fight Schilt has more experience and can use his long legs to keep Mighty Mo at bay. With over 25 MMA fights he has an incredible advantage over Mighty Mo who only has 3 wins out of 3 fights. Schilt has fought the top 3 MMA heavyweight fighters in the heavyweight division in Josh Barnett, Antonio Nogueira at PRIDE 23, Japan and decision lost to one of the top pound for pound fighters in the world in Fedor Emelianenko at PRIDE 21.

Look for Schilt to dominate in the stand up and if this fight goes to the ground Mighty Mo has no idea how to fight on the ground. Mighty Mo will gas out in this fight, as he does not have the all round skills to fight a top level fighter yet. He will be hard pressed to get passed Semmy Schilt’s long reach and legs.

Schilt has a better all round MMA game and I would lay a lot of money on a Semmy Schilt victory

Kazushi Sakuraba vs.  Kiyoshi Tamura

Kazushi SakurabaKiyoshi Tamura has already beaten on Japanese legend Masakatsu Funaki at Dream 2 – Middleweight Grand Prix 2008 Opening Round and he will be looking at dethroning the greatest Japanese fighter in Kazushi Sakuraba. This will be a submission fight as Tamura has 13 won by submission in his 32 pro fights, while Sakuraba’s resume speak for itself.

It comes to who has a better ground game and Sakuraba still has what it take to beat most fighters if he is healthy and in shape.  What more can be said about the Gracie Hunter. He has victories over the famed Gracie family of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners. He also holds notable wins over Royce Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Ryan Gracie, Royler Gracie, Vitor Belfort, Quinton Jackson, Guy Mezger, Kevin Randleman, and Ken Shamrock.

Sakuraba has experience submitting bigger fighters and he will be the bigger fighter in his fight with Tamura. Tamura is a better wrestler but Sakuraba is best on his back. The betting lines might open up with Tamura as the favorite since Sakuraba is getting older but I would still bet on a Sakuraba victory. The Gracie Hunter is still be alive.

Eddie Alvarez vs. Shinya Aoki

Eddie AlvarezEddie Alvarez is the best up and coming lightweight fighter in MMA right now. This will be a classic grappler versus striker fight. Normally I always take the grappler but in this case Alvarez not only has far far far superior skills but he has great wrestling skills. Alvarez has worked a lot on his sprawl. Alvarez was also a two-time All-American high school wrestler at Northeast Catholic High School.

Striking wise this fight is a no contest. Alvarez made a name for himself on the streets of Kensington Philadelphia as one of its toughest inhabitants. That tough upbringing and attitude gives him a huge striking advantage in the ring. Just look at his MMA record with 11 out of 15 victories by KO.

Also Aoki’s striking is one of the worst in MMA. He will try to pull guard but if he gets too close he will be hit and hit hard by Alvarez. Rubber guard will not work on Alvarez as he has too much power to power out of Aoki’s submission attempts.

I see this fight going similar to the fight at DREAM.5: Lightweight Grandprix 2008 Final against Joachim Hansen. Aoki will be on the bottom and Alvarez will rain down monster shots that will KO Aoki.

Betting wise the odds might be pretty even but I would lay a lot on an Eddie Alvarez KO

Joachim Hansen vs.  Gesias Calvancante

Joachim HansenEveryone wanted to see Joachim Hansen fight Eddie Alvarez but JZ Calvancante is just as good. What a year makes. JZ was the most feared lightweight around but with a loss to Aoki at DREAM.2 he has fallen off the map. JZ will try to avenge his other loss to Joachim Hansen. The two fought 4 years ago and the current DREAM champion won a majority decision at Shooto 2004: 7/16 in Korakuen Hall.

This will be a close fight but Joachim Hansen will win another decision victory. He is just more active when he fights and he is always going for submissions, which the judges love. Joachim Hansen has very good take down skill as he was the Brazilian Judo European Champion and has the ability to take JZ to the ground and fight from the top.

Calvancante does have more powerful strikes but Hansen can also strike and has a longer reach in both his punches and kicks. His reach will be able to push back JZ as Calvancante will have to use looping over hand rights to land punches. When he does this he will be vulnerable to takedowns.

This is a very tough fight to call as both fighters have the ability to win, but Hansen is a better pressure fighter and a better ground fighter. I see a slip decision victory for the DREAM champ.

Betting wise I would lay a small bet on Hansen depending on what the betting lines are. The MMA odds will be
close so a small play is the best bet.

Hideo Tokoro vs.  Daisuke Nakamura

Hideo TokoroDaisuke Nakamura is a good submission fighter with 11 out of his 18 wins by submission. That is his MMA game. However, Hideo Tokoro is a great fighter who has fought some of the best ground fighters on the world and they could not submit him. He has fought and beaten Royler Gracie and drew against Royce Gracie. Tokoro’s loses have come by KO but Nakamura does not have any striking power whatsoever.

Tokoro will win this fight by pressure and being more aggressive in the top game and he will use his superior wrestling skills to hold down Nakamura and keep him down in the ground and pound.

Betting wise this is a good bet to lay a lot on a Hideo Tokoro victory who will frustrate Nakamura with pressure and a dominate top game.
